You see stars out there taking these little one-week trips to Africa to see the affect of AIDS, povery, etc.. They do it for the cameras and the publicity. (They make me sick.)

Like flying off to Africa so your baby can be born there?

Steve Irwin wasn't just out playing with crocs and snakes and dangerous animals. He studied them and knew them and knew their tendencies. He also knew when he pushed his limits with an animal and he would back off.

There are a lot of TV wildlife actors that never cared to learn the behaviors and lives of animals like Steve Irwin did. I don't think you can say that Steve asked for it or brought it upon himself. If he was constantly doing stupid things in an uneducated manner, then you could say he did it to himself. Such as an inexperienced pilot doing barrel rolls 500' off the ground, that's stupid and they're asking to kill themselves. But when the Blues do it, they're amazing and professional.

He died in a freak accident by a stingray piercing his heart. Stingrays are not aggressive. I've swam with them before and they typically don't want to hurt you. It's unfortunate and I'll be praying for his family and friends.

Just figures, a guy who pushes the limits, and knew his business, killed in a freak accident doing something "normal" people do.

Godspeed Steve Irwin.

That he bought it does not surprise me, how he bought it does. A Stingray barb in the heart is definitely a low percentge play. Reminds me of a Scarface pilot who didn't get a scratch in Viet Nam, comes home and is almost immediately killed in a car wreck.
I never followed him(Irwin) that much but I always figured he'd get his ass handed to him by an enraged member of some form of wild species.

its very unfortunate when anyone dies before their time. But atleast it can be said that he died doing what he loved. Not many people are fortunate enough for that. Same goes for anyone if you go through life not doing things because you are afraid you might die then you should bottle up and become a hermit. There are everyday things that are far more dangerous than those animals he handled in his show, that we deal with everyday but we still do them because they are common to us(driving on a freeway). Handling those animals was not uncommon for him because he had done it his whole life. The only thing I can make from this situation is that you better take advantage of every second of life cause you dont when you breath will be your last. Whether its holding a posiounous snake a foot from your face or flying aircraft, rock climbing, or just walking down the streets in a city. Anyways it sucks when something like this happens but thats part of life.

Will someone fix this post?

How many times can you play Russian roulette with wild, potentially dangerous animals before one of the chambers comes up with a live round in it ???

As long as you have the collateral to back it up...in his case everytime he did it...he gambled his life. I'm not gunna lie, I liked his show.

RIP Irwin.

crikey...

Wow, if someone had told me that the croc hunter would die from a venonous barb to the heart, I would have believed it. But from a stingray ... geez. I had to check the facts before I coud accept that. Now it's even on Wiki, so it has to be true.

...sticking your finger in a Crocodiles @ss ...

Anyway, I was never much of a croc hunter follower. Did this finger in the cornhole actually happen, or was this just a South Park joke? (honest question here)

It really sucks that this happened when he was filming a segment for his daughter's show. Hope she doesn't develop any guilt issues over that.

We play Russian roulette every time we fly.

I guess the wings are going to fall off of the P3 at some point but I don’t know if you can really say you’re playing Russian roulette?

Career Russian roulette, maybe. :icon_smil

Not gonna get into either the russian roulette debate (although I gotta agree with A4's...if you legitimately think that's what flying is it seems wise to get out of the cockpit...) or the whether Steve Irwin was a ______. All I will contribute is the guy genuinely seemed to love life without hurting anyone. It's always sad to see someone like that leave the world.
