What is O-3 BAH there? Is there a Helo SAR det at Meridian?

NO SAR det anymore We gotta rely on Bubba's pickup truck for any sar pickups.

This loss of SAR dets sucks. It is severly cutting back flying orders for us. Our "share" of the Primary VTs is on a percentage basis I believe, (was told by crusty old CDR, but have not seen on paper) and we by default man the HTs.

But, losing Station SAR does make a dent in the ability to stay in the cockpit for us. Nevermind, it was a good "farewell tour" for otherwise good CDRs who did not screen for operational command.

Kinda a biggie for HSL, since as described by an admiral at NHA
"The HSC/HSL career progression is less like a pyramid (like Tacair), but more like a trapeziod with a flagpole"

We have a lot of good O-5s with SOLID DH tours, who just due to numbers will not get operational command.

I was originally asking, because I am looking for alternate orders that will make it easy (i.e. No PCS Move) for Bupers to say "yes" to my aprroved-but-no-openings-at-this-time transition if ROTC @ Univ of S. Carolina falls thru.

It also sucks if you eject over the middle-of-nowhere Mississippi and are injured and need rescue.

Are any of you guys living in the 4BR crap-hole house that sits between the two churches in Marion? It's always filled by SNAs (nobody else would want to live there). I've met several guys over the years that lived there before and after me. Just curious.
