29JUNE2026 IWC Board

Apparently I made it to board with my first designator (INTEL) but not my second (CSWO). Anyone have any idea why this would happen? My recruiter says it's likely because I have two humanities degrees when it's desirable for CSWOs to have studied STEM, so the program manager placed my packet aside, so to speak. Bummer... does that mean it's not even worth reapplying to CSWO should I get passed over for INTEL this round?

Regardless, anxiously awaiting results 🤞 Hoping to see everyone in this thread at OCS!

How did you find this out?

I talked to my recruiter to make sure I made it to the board without any issues. He said yes. I didn't ask about my designators though, oops.
I am just going to let it ride and hope it is fine.

Haha I'm sure with a desirable degree like Statistics + previous service, you'll be fine. My issue is that I've got a BA + half a PhD in the humanities. Was hoping that some work experience would get me over the "STEM fields preferred but not required" (from the IP PA) hump, but I guess it wasn't enough.

Is there is any info on possible ship dates if selected in this board? I've read about candidates shipping out anywhere from weeks to many months after selection. Is there any kind of predictable correlation between boards and OCS dates?

Be prepared to wait. They are selecting for FY27, which doesn't start until October. Even then, ship dates could very well be after the 1st of the year.

According to the PA for CW

" (1) Applicants must be at least 18 years old and less than 42 years old at the time of
commissioning. This requirement can be waived"

Ah, you posted the PA for INTEL. Yeah no, I'm too old for INTEL but not for CW or CSWO

As I said, I'm prior service, 5 years in the USMC which brings my computed age to 39. In addition they also take into consideration your ability to complete a full 20 years before the age of 62, which I can. I submitted the age waiver, it was approved. I believe CSWO has the same age requirements. My recruiter and I went over all of this with a fine tooth comb and my application is definitely at board.

Sorry, for some odd reason I thought you were wanting Intel. Waiver language cut and dry / open for CW but I would make sure pay attention to the language with having skillsets and qualifications to offset that.

The age waiver math isn’t relevant here because it’s not stated, ie “year for year credit”.

Yeah based on my degree, minors, and previous experience/military job selection I decided to go for Intel and SWO-O. Though I am not sure which one got categorized as 1st or 2nd. My recruiter really wanted me to go for Intel due to my language experience.

Intel doesn't care about language skills, we have enlisted for any language needs we have.

Is there a reason when I was submitting my package that they asked about language proficiency? Or was it just to have it on record? It was part of the last few questions my recruiter asked me.

It’s considered a “special ability” in the 1420.1B application, but aside from that, the CTI’s are doing the foreign languages.

Makes sense. I do hope to keep working on my language skills, and maybe get proficient in one more language. I want to get my Master’s in International/Foreign relations. My pipe dream is to become a Foreign Area Officer. However, I am aware that it is very heavily dependent on a lot of things going the right way.

I touched on this a couple of comments back, but when I spoke to a Chief who handles the packages, they told me that IWC packages are being sent one at a time. Since Intel is your first choice, it’ll only go to that board. If selected, congratulations! If not, your package for your second choice gets kicked to the next board automatically. I would still follow up to ensure it does make it to the board as the date approaches.
