Deranged. Whatever you have to tell yourself. This is an amazing deal for Americans. Trump is perhaps the most consequential president of the modern era. What an incredible win for America. I’m sorry that makes you upset
Trump is a bottom 10 President, it's just a matter of where he ends up in that bottom 10.

You cannot lose re-election based on a botched national healthcare crisis response, get impeached twice, get charged with over 80 criminal offenses, and have your entire cabinet write books about the backflips they had to do to keep you from going off the deep end and be a top-rated President.

You also can't fail at all of your top fiscal priorities in your first term due to failing to gain enough support among your own political party, and then respond by spending the next 4 years getting the people who voted against you excommunicated from the party.

If Trump died in office tomorrow, in ~100 years he'd be as memorable and historically relevant as Benjamin Harris or Millard Fillmore.

He threatened to use it, and has attacked Iran and Venezuela in the past year. Are you telling me that you'd casually dismiss such a threat if you were in a decision-making role in Denmark.
You’re high.

Seriously, the demonstration of “well we took down Iran and Venezuela” as justification for attacking a NATO partner shows little to no actual analysis of the facts presented.

Nothing was mobilized, nothing was positioned. We are a joint force and the best evidence of some kind of forcible entry scenario was foreign newspapers saying we spooled up 2x infantry battalions from the I Corps Alaskan Division(-) that could have potentially served in Greenland.

You don’t need to engage in what is borderline conspiratorial theory to critisize an administrator you don’t politically agree with. Doing so makes it clear you aren’t arguing from a point of honesty.

Exactly the point. Take a step back and think about getting either of those as PTDO. Kinda fucking stupid right?

You’re talking to members of two services that have been doing this exact thing in the Pacific for 40 years. We’re hitting our retention and recruiting goals every year. Imagine how bad morale could get when one squadron gets stuck on the boat rotations and the others are logging colored ink in OIF/OEF/OIR.

Perhaps providing a deterrent from keeping countries with nuclear weapons from fighting each is in our best interest.
No you engaged in the hypothetical that 2x Infantry battalions form 11th Airborne we’re going to somehow be the harbinger of a move against a NATO partner.

Please explain to the room how you came to that conclusion because that isnt MDCOA, that’s MRCOA analysis.

Not some penis measuring of which service has spent more time deployed in the suck.

So you're saying that we - and more importantly, Denmark - should treat the President like he has no credibility?

…credibility?

In a rambling speech that European officials could not believe was coming from the lips of an American president, he repeated his demand for U.S. ownership of Greenland while also seeming to acknowledge reality. “Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland,” he said, confusing the Nordic nation for Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of Denmark, another Nordic nation.

Of course he did end up as a US senator.

Looks like Antarctica is next I'm afraid @taxi1 ...

Let me take a hack at it for you (and @Yardstick and @robav8r ). I'm not particularly concerned if actual military operations occur, the damage is done. Listen to the language Carney recently used in his remarks. He's no longer speaking of possibilities but of present tense "ruptures."

On the most recent episode of The Dispatch Podcast, the host Steve Hayes (a traditional, serious, and principled conservative), tells of how last week he was interviewed by Danish Public Television. Paraphrasing, he recounts how the interviewer conceded that Europeans often disagreed or didn't understand American foreign policy, but never doubted we were the "good guys." The interviewer closed by asking Steve, "are you still the good guys." That's not easy question to answer right now; to suggest otherwise points to a fairly myopic view of the world

I didn't understand and hated calculus because I rarely showed up for class and didn't do the homework. Allies matter, partnerships matter, and this admin has memefied all of it because they hate what they dont understand.

Some of you are tying yourselves in rhetorical knots to call a square a circle, or say up is down. But if we call it what it is, at best you're quietly aceeding to, and at worst actively cheering the demise of some pretty serious stuff.
