It’s a race to the bottom. As soon as you pick a side based on who seems “less bad”, then IMO they’ve basically won.

I don't think approaching issues together is possible. There's too many issues on which both sides are diametrically opposed.

Diversity is also good because it brings points of view to a subject that otherwise would go unnoticed. For example, most buildings where shows for audiences are shown have bathrooms likely designed by men. The reason is because the women's bathroom is always the same size as the men's bathroom, which results in long lines coming out of the women's bathrooms. Also the stalls are the same size, which makes it difficult if a woman has to fit multiple children and luggage into a stall. If women were more involved in the design process, the women's bathrooms would likely be much larger to prevent such long lines and the stalls a lot bigger. Whereas men don't tend to think about such things.
Another example is medical publishing. If you buy books on human anatomy, or see illustrated pictures of a baby in the womb in such books, it is almost always a white baby in a white woman, and white people displayed. You virtually never see a black baby or black or brown peoples displayed. This is probably because most such publishing people are white and that aspect skips right over their thinking.
I am sure there are numerous other examples, so while in seeking diversity one must be careful not to engage in reverse discrimination or hiring people who are clearly unqualified, at the same time, having diverse organizations of humans will result in much more informed decision-making.

The GOP has unfortunately moved a good deal into Looneyville as of late, at least on foreign policy IMO. Between the anti-Ukraine/pro-Russia side and Lindsay "Let's Bomb Iran" Graham, I mean jeez...
I think we have more in common than we realize. People taking partisan positions creates opposition someone else gains from creating.
We have to stop letting political parties and the popular media lead us around by the nose.

Yes they have, and in the blue corner, we have the pro-Hamas squad, heads broadly in the sand on border control, and the national debt doesn’t matter, so let’s spend our way out of every problem.
Both sides suck equally, and are going down the path of authoritarian rule by force. There seems to be no incentive to come back to center.

Not trying to diminish your critiques of the GOP, but I would say that it is generally counter-productive to focus on one particular party with words like “Looneyville”. That just implies some degree of personal bias. There is no shortage of things to critique at any given time for either main political party, and foolishness is not inherently democratic or republican.
That’s a good summation. We have given the megaphone to fools.
I’ve learned and grown a lot myself by realizing that the vast majority of people who are of the opposite political disposition to me are reasonable people who have reasonable stances on most things. I’m tired of the vocal minority of hyper-partisan individuals being used as the main representation of either party.

The best NCO I had the opportunity to work with, both in the military and later civilian world, is a black man from western Virginia who was really smart, but also an above average high school football player. He was good enough at his sport to be on the ESPN/NFL top ten prospect running back list.
But then he got his girlfriend pregnant. (She's his wife and an awesome woman).
He didn't know what to do, so he joined the Marine Corps.
Everything this dude touches turns to gold. He knocks the UAV/RPA school out of the park, he's an all star dad, NCO of the quarter, year, century, early promote, completes his bachelors degree in his off time while completing enlisted WTI type stuff.
Dude gets accepted to Cornell's post grad engineering department while we're working for the same civilian company. Of course he goes to Ithaca. He's now a foremost expert on human interaction with automation and AI. He's also kept up with his pilot hours and has his commercial rating.
Why is this important?
So I asked him one more than a few times, "Hey buddy, you're way smarter than I am and are way better at leadership than I am, why didn't you think to go get your degree and be an officer and a pilot?"
His response, " My dad had an 8th grade education and drove a cab. Once I was in 9th grade I knew more than my dad. I didn't even know what an officer was, much less what a pilot was. I knew they existed, but they weren't me." He told me, "You know what Swammi, guys like me simply don't even consider being an officer and a pilot as an option, not because we don't know that they exist, but because I didn't know any officers or pilots, and everyone told me that I could be a great running back in college. No one told me that I could be a pilot. It just didn't exist in my world."
When you look around a flying squadron in the military you see a very middle class, white, male person, who probably has some type of military connection in their family. We all look the same. Why is that?
So yeah, that article and your comments are pretty correct in my limited experience.
It was a Republican president who insisted that his name was on the checks that were sent out to everyone man, woman, and child in this country during COVID that created this inflation problem. Republicans printed 2.3 trillion dollars out of thin air.
Spending our way out of a problem is not unique to Democrats or Republicans, they both do it and they both blame each other for it.

This is actually a little humorous to me in that I apparently gave you guys the impression of being politically biased towards the Democrats???
I have become displeased with the GOP very much as of late but I am absolutely NOT any lefty Democrat either, for the exact reasons you stated, i.e. the nuttery on their side. I am currently a registered Republican but really thinking of changing to an Independent.
