My past experience has been if you don't receive a call straight-away, that you're not selected. Totally my experience though...I'm pretty sure I'll hear from my OR tomorrow and hopefully it will be good news, but preparing myself for not so good news.
I know the waiting can be hard. I was probably the last person to find out (at least here on AW) when I was selected, so don't give up hope! Some people found out a couple of weeks before I did.

Thanks for that encouragement! I will let this thread know either way....have a great week!

I will also say I found out I was selected a few days after everyone on here, and ended up calling my recruiter before I found out. He was just busy with a lot on his plate. Best of luck.

Can you PM a name for me?
They’re not supposed to be public information. Your recruiter will let you know. You’re probably the actual person who’s name you want to look up, but that doesn’t stop random people trying to look up other individuals.

Thank you sir! I will let everyone know. I did reach out to my OR (via text) first thing this morning, but no response yet, which is typical of him.

I did not get selected, this my third time applying. It is frustrating, my interviews went well, I got 10, 9, 9, 9 and still didn’t get selected for the third time. Not sure what else to do to get selected.

If the OIC did not say something like "I have 100% confidence in XXXXX ability...." that could have done it. The OIC interview weighs heavily so if that wasn't the "10" that would have hurt as well.

If you're willing to share...what did you update on your recent package to make you a better candidate than your first go around?

Hi, I'm sorry that you have not been selected and I think it is frustrating. I would like to give you some advice if you want to redo the application. In my experience, during my interview I tried to speak very little about my profession, also because I believe that whoever interviewed me had my CV in hand and if they wanted to know something specific they could ask me directly. My interview was based heavily on the human side, my past experience in other countries, my language skills, my family, and many questions about how I went through moments and challenges in my work and family career. I believe that since there are many candidates with certifications, masters, PhDs etc ... it is much more important to emphasize your character strengths, but also the weaknesses in front of the officers who interview you: to create empathy, in such a way that it is no longer an interview but a simple chat where if "by nature" you have the qualities of a leader, your interviewers can sense your potential. Be humble but not fake, be ambitious but not arrogant. This is my point of view, after all you have all the chances to be selected at the next board since you already have a lot of work experience and many qualifications and certifications that play in your favor.

I was selected this time around after two prior instances of my packet not even making it to a Board so I can totally relate to being frustrated.

That being said, I would echo the approach above. Other than one direct question about my experience with AI/ML (I was selected as a 1835), I talked very little about my specific profession.

Instead, most of my interviews focused on my leadership philosophy. I also talked a lot about how I felt that Naval Intelligence was a great place to be given the unique ability of the Navy to address many modern challenges ranging from China to cyber warfare to global warming (i.e., melting Arctic ice and creating new competition for shipping lanes). I also made sure to convey that if these are the intellectual challenges that get you excited to get up in the morning, there is probably no place other than Naval Intelligence where you would get the opportunity to do this type of work.

In this regard, I received feedback from every officer along the lines of how so few people in the process could really even articulate a leadership philosophy, address how they overcame personal challenges, or speak to the role of Naval Intelligence in addressing current world affairs. Thus, I agree with Morivelle that these items could serve as memorable differentiators.

Background wise: very early 40s, non-prior service, undergrad only with 3.6 gpa, and a career more suited to a Supply Officer with over 20 years in investment banking, m&a, corporate strategy, and IT procurement. Also did a stint as a C-level exec with a very large non-profit prior to going back into the tech space.
