Actually an interesting article from Navy Times. Wonder what other aspects of the Zumwalt class are unique to the other CRUDES classes- this sort of ‘hadn’t thought of that’ stuff is fascinating to me.

Got to work with them last year a bit and toured their ship while they were in port. Definitely add some wrinkles to the fight, very cool ship.
One of the neat (unclass) things was the externally mounted VLS system in 4 packs with reactive armor.

Ship can take a hit and keep engaging without damaging the entirety of their weapon loadout.

It’s too bad the cost overruns killed it, I think there are some real opportunities to use it in littoral combat.
