RoamingBiologist

Flying out deep into the wilderness.
I just wanted to thank all the people who posted information regarding the ASTB, it was flippin amazing! Even though I majored in biology and minored in chemistry, math was never my strongest subject, but hey crap loads of repetition saved my ass in college and again as well on the ASTB. The material provided here was top notch stuff, and I wish nerves didn't choke my ass up on the first few math questions -(luckily I got serious and the hard stuff I was expecting started appearing).

Math:
Used Kaplan 2015 GRE Math book, ASTB-E math section from Accepted inc, gouge material provided in the forums, http://www.futureofficer.com/links4.html. I also grabbed a college algebra teachers manual to go over logarithmic equations and formulas.

GO OVER PROBABILITIES, LOGARITHMIC EQUATIONS, RATES. I had like 6 probabilities questions, each with increasing complexity. Dice, coin flips, probability of a probability lol stuff like that. If had I calmed down earlier, I am sure to have gotten at least a 60, but what is done is done :).

Mechanics:
Barrons Flight Officer book, ASTB-E Accepted inc book, gouge material provided here, QUIZLET, http://www.futureofficer.com/links4.html

Know everything, I read the material over for 2 weeks before I started doing practice problems. I found it helped me just recall principles and find quick methods to solving the question without racking my brain on it.

Aviation and Nautical:
I personally felt that Barrons, ASTB study guides provided here, QUIZLET and the ASTB-E Accepted inc were awesome.

http://quizlet.com/11288380/flashcards (Thank this person)!

Made over 400 flash cards on aviation mechanics, history, terminology, and whatever else I could think of.

Read and reread if necessary, about 90% of what I read appeared on my test.

Reading Comprehension:
If you can read, you will do perfectly fine on this section, just select the answer that is relative to the passage. (LEAVE ALL ASSUMPTIONS AT THE DOOR)

Pilot Trait Inventory:
This section can get really tricky, I figured there was a specific pattern to it a few questions in. I am glad I did or I can see how this could potential generate a low score for someone. I really can't provide any good feedback as it is basically choose the best one out of the 2.

The PBM:
I did pretty well on the listening portion and when combining all 3 tasks, I missed what I believe was 2 or 3. I just played with the sticks while trying to listen to the question. (I personally feel the controls were kinda cheap feeling but they worked nonetheless).
