Can someone tell me about the distance running at OCS for the Marines. How many miles is the max distance, is it called the cruicible also? What type of stuff do you have to carry with your platoon. Big logs, ammo boxes, heavy gear? I think I am cut out for the Marines but my only weakness is running.

You will run a lot, every day.

The Crucible is what concludes basic training for enlisted marines.

I figured that part out on my own, I was just wondering what was the average amount of miles, I would like to keep that in mind while conditioning for the PFT as well.

the PFT, as in THE pft....is a small part of the PT at OCS. Its the easy part really- the day in- day out is gonna be worse. I have not been, so maybe others will tell you more, but just be able to run for a few hours- youll be Ok.

Allen, you need to read the "CLASS 182 APPLICANTS" under the Marines section.

Good insight on PT.

Good luck...
