Just wondering, how long do officers normally serve on shore duty like ROTC before rotating out again? Is there a fixed number of years?

We're getting a new Lt. after this year and I'm wondering how long he'll be with us. The current guy was in Prowlers.

usually around 3 yrs. sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, depending on the officer and the community they came from and if they are staying in or getting out.

bch is right. It's usually around 3 years give or take. It all depends on the particular O-3's career milestones and job postings. I would say bank on at least 2 years and probably a third.
