Not USNR-related, but the OK NG top officer has taken a stance on the vaccine for OK Army/Air Guard:
Seems like a complicated situation where more info is sure to come out.

On today’s exciting new episode of Fuck Around and Find Out…

Funny thing about the National Guard, while they have dual CoC's it is almost entirely federally funded. If they don't want to follow federal mandates, maybe they don't need federal funds/pay.

Well, you can mandate something at the federal level, but who will enforce it? This is much like the sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce other federal laws. Of course once a guard soldier goes to a title 10 school or title 32 in some other state (that isn't doing the same as Oklahoma)...Game On! There will be new developments, to be sure. Or, eventually we (the people) will follow science and not just scientist and come up with a more common sense approach. In a world where manpower shortages in the guard are so bad we cannot discharge a soldier who has been AWOL for over a year, I seriously doubt anyone of value will be kicked out of the guard for not being vaccinated.

"We need every single Marine in the unit to be vaccinated. We don't have extra Marines. We're a pretty small force, and we have to make sure that everybody on the team is ready to go all the time."

Does CMC not realize how contradictory this is? You don't have extra Marines, but you're about to kick out 10k AD Marines, or 1 out of every 16 people, for refusing the vax? And potentially 30% of the reserves?

But hey, the remaining Marines will have decreased their chances of dying from COVID from <0.01% to 0.001%.

Readiness!

Don’t worry they’ll do less with less either way

They're finding out, that DoD still controls their funding.

it would be hilarious if the guard got called up and no one was there to answer.
There are about 336,000 in the Army National Guard and about 108,000 in the Air National Guard. There are plenty of people in the Army and Air National Guards to offset the relatively low number of those who oppose the vaccine enough who will actually put their money with their mouth is and continue to oppose until they are separated.

This is about as much of a nothing burger as those SEALs who said they would leave. Well... Leave... You all are -- just as I am -- easily replaceable.

If there is a large enough outflow of people that cannot be offset with current recruiting efforts, they'll simply do what the Army did in 2008 and again in 2017 and lower recruitment standards or offer larger incentives.

I'm 98.5% certain that no one is going to forgo a military retirement over this issue.
