March 25th is the National Medal of Honor Day.
I'm very pleased that when I recently proposed a concept to recognize this date to one of our regional media outlets, they decided to support the programming idea.
"Pappy Boyington Field" will air on the Northwest Public Television on March 25th.
Boyington was a product of the Northwest: born in Idaho, educated at the University of Washington in Aeronautical Engineering, and a Boeing employee in Seattle before joining the Marines.
This is a unique opportunity to recognize one of our Medal of Honor recipients from this area. Perhaps there will be other activities around the country to pay tribute to the legacy of Medal of Honor recipients in their communities.
