So, I'm just trying to gauge what a normal wait time is to get your pre-screen documents approved by MEPS. I know that every case is different, and location also plays a role, but did anyone here wait 2 months before hearing anything? It's frustrating waiting to essentially see whether or not you can move forward with your dream. any advice helps. thanks

It depends. Ask your OR.

Mine took about a month before I was approved. After 2 months of waiting for post-meps results my OR informed me they can't find my file even when I've sent in my own personal copy from that day. Maybe the summer months tend to be slower?

My OR came back to me this week with a notice from MEPS stating that I must provide medical records and release for two injuries I sustained 12 years ago. One was a dislocated elbow and the other a broken clavicle, both from judo. Both healed fully, and I haven't experienced any issues with them since then. However, due to the course of time and two international moves, I've no longer have the relevant medical records. Additionally, the treating hospitals purged those records ten years ago.

Initially my OR thought it would be sufficient if I submitted a comprehensive handwritten account covering the cause, treatment and resolution of the injuries, so I wrote six pages containing every detail I could remember. MEPS did not deem it sufficient, and my OR has not been helpful in suggesting solutions.

Is it possible that a present-day medical evaluation by a personal physician and/or specialist would be accepted in lieu of the old records? What other alternative documentation could I submit to help resolve this issue?

You need to get a letter from the hospital/doctor explaining why the records don’t exist. I would wait on the current consult until meps says otherwise.

Thanks, RUFiO, that's really helpful. I'll try that. Both hospitals are Japanese facilities with very limited English-language services, however. Any paperwork they provide will most likely be in Japanese. In that case, would MEPS accept them if they are accompanied by a certified translation?

Sure-but no guarantees that will work.
