The latest info. I have is the next Intel board will be next week and there are only 3 slots left for the 04 fiscal year. I'm applying for an 06 slot via BDCP. I listed Intel #1 and Crypto #2. I believe I have a good shot at Crypto and a decent shot at Intel. Good luck.

I know this question makes me an unlikely candidate for "intelligence", but remind me again, what are the dates of the fiscal year?

Pro-Rec'd for Intel
No, so seriously... any updates?

Okay, so this thread hasn't been commented on for about a month.... so here's what I've got: Last I heard from (gasp) another forum was that there were only 16 slots left for Intel FY05. Anyone hear back Y/N for intel recently? My recruiter said that it being the end of this FY, they might be holding applications over to consider them for FY05 instead of FY04. He said that the latest I'd hear back was late October. Anyone else shooting for intel have anything else to contribute?

I applied for Intel #1 and Crypto #2. I've heard that Crypto is on hold till Jan. and have not heard anything yet from Intel. Hopefully I get a pro-rec from Intel soon, the waiting is killing me. I started the process to meet the the requirements for BDCP 2 years ago. I sent in my second application in June.

Pro-Rec'd for Intel
Yeah... I'm still waiting too...

Yeah, I applied for Intel 1st and Crypto 2nd as well. My package was sent in the middle of August, so I've still got a decent amount of wait time left. Just curious, what do your stats look like? Just curious what an average intel applicant looks like. I'll be getting my BA in Int'l Relations (Asian Studies Concentration) in May 05 with a 3.85(ish) GPA. 54 OAR (Could have done better but oh well.) I've got letters of recommendation from a Navy Cdr. with 25+ years experience as an Intel officer, a professor of "Intel and Espionage" from my university with experience in Army Intel (E-5 in MOS-972), and a few family friends with Naval Officer experience. Still working on those PRT scores though... about 75 pushups, 40 curlups, and 1.5 in about 12:00 :( . Well, like the rest of us on this board, I'm racing home everyday to check the (e)mail to see if I've got any news yet.

Hey jrasmussen,

Your stats are solid and I believe you have a legitimate shot at Intel. Here are my stats: OAR 51, current GPA 3.57 in Information Systems Decision Science, grad date MAY 06. Prior Navy Electronics Technician Second Class Petty Officer (E-5). I served from June 92-98. 4 years on board U.S.S. Chosin CG 65. 2 Persian Gulf deployments, was on the VBSS team on my second deployment. Awards: Navy and Marine Corps. Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Letter of Commendation from an Admiral for being selected as Sailor of the Quarter for the Constellation battle group. Letter of Commendation from my C.O. for selection as Junior Sailor of the Quarter on board U.S.S. Chosin, and others. Briefly attended BUD/S before getting out in 98. Currently employed full-time by the Office of Telecommunications at Louisiana State University working on the campus area computer network. Other relevant work experience: 1 year working in the Gulf of Mexico supporting wireless communications (satellite, microwave, UHF, and VHF) for the oil and gas industry. My LOR's are from two instructors, one a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, the other a retired Navy Commander. LOR's from friends are an active duty Air Force Major and a reserve Navy Lt. Intel Officer. If I don't get a pro-rec on this application, I am seriously considering joining the Navy reserves as an Intel Specialist and reapplying until I graduate. If I haven't been selected for OCS by the time I graduate, then I will apply for a direct commission in the reserves. Hopefully I will not have to go this route, but you must have a contingency plan. Good Luck and I will keep you posted.

JKD,

When did you send in your last application and what time did you say you would be available for OCS? Your stats are definitely solid, especially with being an IS2 in the reserves. I wonder what's holding you back from a selection. Do you plan on reapplying?

OK lets clear up some confusion and bum gouge. There are no FY 04 quotas. They are gone. Not only did they fill 100% of the goal but it is physically impossible to get a FY04 slot by this date. Let me explain. The FY the quota comes from is defined by the FY you are commissioned in. Since OCS is about three months long, you can see that a class this past July graduating before the new FY of 1OCT04 was the last class that had any FY 04 guys in it. You guys selecting now are FY 05 or FY 06 guys, depending on when you commission (graduate OCS), not when you select or go to OCS. Now the numbers... The last firm numbers I had were from about 3 weeks ago so some of the quotas are probably gone now. FY 05 (current selects) openings for INTEL were less then 20. FY 06, nearly 50 left available. The very best candidates still in college may get a FY 06 quota for BDCP INTEL. If you do not have a strong enough application for BDCP or you are a college graduate and FY 05 closes up, you wil have to wait until you are close enough to an available FY 06 OCS class date to be a straight OCS applicant. Good Luck all.

In support of Wink, here are the first fifteen FY05 OCS class dates, subject to change of course. As you can see, 6 of them have already poopy-suited up. The last FY04 class graduates 24 Sept., so FY04 is history. There were 21 classes in FY04; probably 20 in FY05.
