Ideal Housing Setup

Air Force Lt (single) getting ready to sit casual for 8 months and need some housing advice:

Fort Walton Beach (Hurlburt Field) Feb - Oct
Report to Pensacola October 07

I'm assuming I'll need to get a place in Whiting right away and commute to Pcola for A pool sign in and API. Am I right?

Either way, what is the ideal housing situation for Fort Walton Beach, time at Pcola (if I can stay there while waiting API and during), and Whiting?

I'm mainly talking about locations with regards to convenience and reasonable pricing. I'd like to live on base during Whiting to minimize the distractions but living close off base wouldn't be a problem either. I heard Whiting Pines is nice so I'm open to any advice. As far as FWB goes, I have no clue....I hear Navarre is nice but assume it is costly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, Whiting Pines is not on base. About 5 miles off base.

I'm not sure you can live at pines if you are single. I think they'd put you in the Q on base. Both are nice enough though.

BOQ @ WF is OK. Not the best, but not bad. Problem is, at NASWF, they roll up the sidewalks at about 1630, and if you need anything, it is about a 10-15 minute ride into town.
