I have many gripes and voice them regularly, but I must say, we seem to get some preference when it comes to selecting pilot/nfo.

Pilot wise:
Ive seen many a good people attrited in flight school from a many different commissioning source, Ive seen incredible pilots who studied underwater basket weaving at East BF Community College, Ive flown with Admiral's sons and daughters who could barelly get the wheels up without a near death experience. Some folks just can't fly well, some folks don't enjoy sucking at something they thought they always dreamed of doing, sucking is not fun. Definetelly take a few lessons to see if taste your lunch a second time airborne.
If you pay for all that flight time at ERAU, you let it be known to your IP's/fellow studs, and fall on your pompy tech school sword (because flying a Seminole is infinetelly slower, simpler and less demanding than any Navy Flight School) enjoy your humble pie (everyone will be laughing). I don't care what any civ pilot says, got my ATP in the Seminole, it ain't hard to fly. I'll go ahead and generalize it to the rest.
ERAU doesn't mean jack shit, neither does the Academy, it doesn't really matter. Any NROTC school or OCS after grad, above a 3.0 in XXXical engineering (a flying major from my experience at Ohio State is not considered technical by Navy), well above a 3.0 in anything Non-technical, good ASBT scores and yer a shoe in.
Nothing is guaranteed though (Needs of the Navy), you may end up eating a shit sandwich on bread you don't like, never say die, give a shit filled grin and ask for lateral transfer. Don't mean to piss on the parade, thread needed a dose of reality.
Someone's been telling you lies there buddy. I guess you gotta be sucker to pay so much for "college" anyways.
I wasn't trying to be arrogant about my university. Middies at other schools do get turned down for aviation from time to time, but so far, everyone who's wanted aviation at our unit has gotten it, assuming they were phyisically qualified.

I fully understand what your all saying. What I said was based on my own limited observation, and I apologize if it seemed exaggerated. From what I've been hearing, people usually do pick up aviation (as long as they're not total shit bags). But I hear that people at other universities may select NFO when they wanted Pilot (when qualified for both), where as here that hasn't seemed to happen yet [knocking on wood]. Obviously, I don't have any real numbers or statistics in front of me. I'll agree that ultimately, you should attend the school which you are happiest with, advantage or not, because that is where you're most likely to succeed.
