Did my research...

I took the ASTB for NAVY...my recruiter emailed my application to me to start working on...I'm applying for pilot...and I have been doing my research on NOMI for sometime. Obviously, I cannot submit my application until I get the surgery.
The next step for me is to just pick my doctor and go in for the consultation. My friend had his done last summer for SNA and recommended me to his doctor. Is there any last minute info I should research, or should I just go in and get it out of the way so I can get the waiver?

Theres some forms on the NOMI site that the eye doctor will need to fill out before and after your operation (I will post them in a few minutes when I find them). I would print these out and ask your civ doctor to look over it and make sure that hes going to disclose all info afterwards and be able to turn those forms in, etc...As long as you get a good doctor to do the procedure, theres probably not a whole lot more that you can research. Just make sure before hand that you're within the standards and what not. After its done, its too late if there was a problem with anything and it could DQ you for good. Good luck.

On that last one you fill out Section 1, your doc fills out Section 2 and leave 3 blank for them to do.

defenatly make sure you research your doctors. be cautious of the "pop-up" lasik centers. spending a little extra money is worth it for the right doctor and ask about a military discount, some doc's will give a military discount and write if off on taxes.

I submitted my application after my surgery but before the waiver.

PRK in June, Application went in to the november board (after my vision was judged to be stable by my civilian doc)

Got pro-rec, went to meps in december,

Waiver is in process now and should be done soon.

AppleCello, how much longer do you think you will have to wait? I'm in the same boat as you.... I was pro-rec'd in November and sent my package in the same month. My recruiter says that the waiver is still being processed.

I had PRK done at TLC Vision. They are nationwide and have also done many big time athletes such as Tiger Woods. They were more than some other places, but well worth it. I had a great experience with them.
