I was browsing the sites and I´m confused. Is it necessary to take the test in order to become a Naval Aviator. Or is it just an ROTC thing?

Phoenix, the ASTB is required to determine your suitability for the Aviation Program, and in part is used in your package for competing against other applicants for the available Aviation slots for each of the Commissioning programs. Hope that clears it up for you!
