Will the USMC pay for PRK if you complete the first PLC session under contract?

If we complete the first 6 week PLC session, then will the USMC pay for PRK. Assume we take MCTAP and MCFAP and come under contract. In that case, will they pay for it? Also how hard is PLC, what is the drop-out rate. Thanks for the help!

Why would they pay? What's in it for them? There are more applicant than spots available.

If you want to be a pilot that bad, and you need your eyes cut to do it, find a way to pay. It's not that expensive.

Hell, if you have a rare bloodtype, I know a currently flying E-2 pilot who paid for his PRK by selling plasma. (He's AB- or some odd type that's rare)

Thanks for the replies. I could also use the money that I make in PLC to pay for it. I was just wondering if they paid or not. They do pay for all active duty members through right?

Yes, active duty members can get PRK or LASIK after going through the ritualistic screening process and getting approval from your chain if command. Them depending on your designated priority, you will be processed and when the hospital has an opening, you can get your eyes cut. From my initial screening to getting my LASIK was almost 4 months. YMMV.

Like others have said, it would be easier to get your eyes cut at your own expense prior to getting an Aviation Guarantee.

As others have said, and as I think you might remember from Sesame Street: "One of these things is not like the other…one of these things is not the same…"
