When it comes to COD vs. anything else it's not really subjective.

A LOT. More so on the east coast at VRC-40 due to the long transit times on the west coast. I've heard the VRC-40 gus spend less than 2 weeks total in 6 months on the boat. It's a bit more for the 30 guys.

I TOTALLY understand what you are saying. BUT ask ANY pilot and they will say that Cod's is THE way to go. Mainly cause you are not on the boat, per diem is NICE, you meet really awesome people, everyone LOVES seeing the Cod because it is the way to get things on and off the boat, per diem, San Diego is AWESOME! (definitely a TOP choice of ours with Japan), per diem, if you are a family person you can pretty much talk to your spouse daily (unless they are working), per diem, no night traps....LOL! The list goes on. Wait, did I say PER DIEM??? LOL! The one thing that sucks is that he will be gone 6-9 months....which everyone has to go through, but the other things weigh out.
You know, you go through SOOOOO much training and when you do finally find out what you get, you are proud. So, BE PROUD of your hubby! Now, he won't know what he gets till he is about a week out from groundschool so don't go buying any E2 or C2 stuff just yet! ;) It can and will change. They change their minds 500 times before selection.

Some spots that I've detted out of or have heard of other dets working out of, is Singapore (spent about 3 months there living out of the Regent), Hawaii, Perth/Sydney Australia, Okinawa, Bahrain, Atsugi, Scotland, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Bahrain, UAE, Guam, etc. As far as carrier life goes, can't beat COD life, as it is now.

P-3s go to Diego Garcia, right? I personally haven't been. As a COD guy I have been to:
Hawaii, Midway, Wake, Philippines, Guam, Japan (3 places), Korea (2 places), Hong Kong (port call), Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Oman (2 places), UAE, Qatar, Bahrain (2 places), Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Greece, Italy (Sicily), Tunisia, and Portugal (port call).

There have certainly been guys that have been to more places, but as an LT it ain't too shabby.

*Shizer... Bunk beat me to it.

Along with the exotic ports, COD guys get to meet women from all over. For example, kmac has dated several women. I've seen some and actually snapped pic of one he was dating:

Yeah, I totally realized that I put wings on there. My hubby will kill me if he sees them. LOL! I feel like I earned them too. ;)

Whoa, whoa.... what she is saying is different than saying "I earned the wings" OR "we earned them together." She said she feels like she earned them, implicitly saying that she did not.

I have met wives, like you, who literally say things like, "We are a LT... We went through OCS... etc." This is different.
