Why is it so hard to get an Officer Recruiter?

Zilch

This...is...Caketown!
I think this is fate telling you to contact the Marines rather than the Navy.

I'm sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I think the past replies could be relevant today.

I, too, am experiencing difficulty getting in touch with an officer recruiter in the Los Angeles area. Could someone please refer a recruiter that could help me with the OCS application process? I'm interested in the 16-Apr-12 Pilot/NFO/SWO board. Since I've heard that recruiters prefer talking to promising applicants, I will give a brief overview of my academic qualifications: BA in Economics from UC Berkeley; 3.2 GPA; and strong Physics background from high school (I will and have done extremely well on the ASTB.). I am a good, motivated applicant with no run-ins with the law. I appreciate any help and the names and numbers/emails of those I should be in contact with. Thank you.

I can send you the number and email of one tomorrow.

What are your scores?

The April board is only going to have Pilot selections, the fall board may have NFO as well.

What I meant to say is that I have done very well on practice ASTB tests and questions, but I have yet to take the actual ASTB. That is why I need to talk to a recruiter so I can take the real thing.

I'm interested in Pilot, so that's fortunate that its selections are this April.

My email is mataron@gmail.com if you want to email me. Thank you.

Go into the office. This isn't enlisted recruiting. YOU need to prove you're serious. Once they know that, they'll take you seriously.

Is there a good way to keep up to date on what slots are available for each designator? I have a good buddy who has been looking at NFO but has been told its going to be closed all year.

Last I was told they still hadn't signed the FY12 accessions plan, and we are almost done with FY12 accessions, so in general the target is very vague, and we are kept guessing in several areas. In specific regards to NFO I have been told they might pick a few <10 at the upcoming board for FY13, they have about 10 that are in the BDCP program that will also go against FY13 goal, and after that I was told they might have about 15 more spots.

It's funny how the pendulum swings. If you look at the selection boards back in like '01-'03 time frame, there were barely any slots. The flood gates opened in '07 and '09 and now looks to be shut again.
