haha thats awesome. Proof we were doing microbrews decades before the clowns in the rest of the country decided to make a thing called "craft beer", whatever that is......

Wisconsin’s got you lapped by a century. What hipsters call “craft beer” is just normal good beer there. Just sayin.

I'm supposed to ferry a jet up to Whidbey tomorrow, who wants to get a beer?
Unfortunately, I’m temporarily exiled to greater Tacoma. I’m moving back to the Seattle area after the holidays.

Currently in Mount Vernon. You get used to the drive. It's 35 mins to the saratoga gate leaving at 0600 and leaving anytime after 0630 youre looking at 45 plus. That gate opens at 0630 so getting there any time before that will add 10-15 mins to get to the main gate.

Quality of life in MV seems to far exceed that of Oak Harbor or Anacortes because you are 5-10 mins from just about everything you need: Best Buy, Home Depot, Cosco, Co-Ops, Normal People, etc. If you are bringing out horses I would consider looking at Coopeville (example of property). Coupleville is beautiful but a bit isolated. Baker is an hourish from me, Bellingham 25 mins (10-12 breweries there), Vancouver 1+25 and Whistler is 3+00. Big plus with MV is that the drives to do anything off the island are cut by 45 min to an hour, such as hiking the cascades. Big plus is the damn jets arent above my house doing night pattern work, you cant escape it living in OH.

Not much of a rental market so good luck on that end but there are some stellar new build neighborhoods is MV and surrounding area. Spending below 300k is where the quality will start to fall off out here and anything with land will easily be 500k.

Best of luck to you and if I hear any rentals open up fitting your niche ill reply.

Appreciate it! Right now I think we have a barn picked out ($850/mo for two horses)that we will offset by renting something relatively small in the $1500 range in town. Looking Coupeville to OH, as the barn is in Coupeville (and we have two very close friends of the family there).

Not ideal, but we have to sacrifice to do what we love...

As I househunt for my civilian job smack in the middle of downtown . . . what is this “land” you speak of that can be acquired for a mere half a million?
