Which Sunglasses?

I doubt the panel's designers intended you to tilt your head side-to-side in a perpetual partial-panel game while flying the aircraft. If they had planned for polarized lenses, then all the displays would be readable from a normal pilot's eye position while flying. I'd say what you observe is more of an accident of how the displays are installed, rather than an intended outcome.
Well, they're all visible when your head is in the normal flying position. You can do a whole flight with polarized glasses pretty uneventfully (except for the windscreen thing, see below). It's more the occasional head tilt that can be inconvenient. I guess I just assumed it was intentional since it's the same in every plane I've been in. But I digest.

I didn't even know WX made sunglasses, I just see every kid rocking their gloves... I'll look into them though, ballistic for the range is a plus. Yea...I tend to run through a pair of sunglasses every year, and that starts adding up with the Maui's.

Yea I've never really looked into Serengeti, but they're kind of catching my eye. I could always get away with polarized in the plane before in the pinch that I didn't plan on needing them or forgot them. If I thought I was going to need sunglasses at a point I usually just threw the issued ones in the speed jeans, but sometimes I'd forget to grab them off the desk and resorted to what I had at hand. Since there were only two polarized instruments that weren't regularly scanned and it just took a quick dip of the head to see them. Good contender!

Yea polarized is a must on the water, regular lenses just didn't cut down on the glare enough especially when your play slalom with the third world country fishing fleets with the sun low on the horizon. I agree the visor does a pretty good job (as it should), but unlike the helo bros I could never have both a clear and tinted visor on the twilight launches so I usually just ran the clear with the shades. Never found a good place to stash the spare visor.
I usually take the clear visor if there is going to be enough nighttime on a flight. It’s a pain but worth having the symbology.

I lied though, I have done polarized glasses with the visor once because it was 5 hours of IMC tanking and the visor wasn’t dark enough. Lost all of the symbology with the glasses on.

Could always do the old college try with the classic Ray-Ban Aviator or Outdoorsman...

I'm a big fan of Smith.

If you're not already a member, check out experticity; some pretty solid discounts on a few brands (including Smith, Wiley X, etc.). All it takes is a .mil email and you may have to send in a pic of your CAC (que CAC pic jokes). Its been a while, so I don't remember the process exactly.

On the beach and on a Hollywood set they appear to wear Wiley X. In the field most guys I know (and theses were primarily army but there were some from all services) prefer Smith Optics Boogies.

I would say that if I saw some civilian walking down the streets wearing SO boogies I would probably laugh so hard I might pee myself.

Maui Jim Stingrays. Ive tried several different types of Oakleys, Costas and other brands. I love my MJ's. Polarization is as good as any other brand and they fit and feel great. Works with a CRT HUD and they have awesome warranty. I shattered a lens once and they did a full replacement even though it wasn't a factory defect and all my fault. The temples are thin and rounded so I can wear them under a helmet for hours without pain or annoyance.
