...who get accepted into UPT? also, what is the total percentage of pilots who have had PRK performed? i know these are statistics not many may have access to, but it's really important for me, as I'm currently debating whether or not to attend OCS to pursue a career in in aviation.

i have mdoerate astigmatism and had my eyes checked by a lasik surgeon a few months ago to see what sort of process would work best for me. turns out that PRK was actually the most recommended procedure because for whatever reason Lasik could not fully take care of my astigmatism. so, that's good news in terms of getting it done in the Navy... but my biggest concern is what my chances are to enter UPT and eventually get my wings after the surgery.

Anyone here get PRK done and currently flying? or at least accepted into UPT? does it seem like a one in a million shot or is it becoming more common?

Lastly - how long, in general, is the PRK waitlist for those pursuing aviation? Do you actually need to be accepted into the flight program BEFORE being authorized for the surgery? (Because obviously, that would disqualify me as my eyesight is too poor to enter without surgical correction)

first off, UPT is airforce not Navy. I had PRK done in August and am seeing 20/15 right now. From what I understand, the waiver process is more of a formality, in that as long as you wait the necesary time frame and your vision is good to go, then they will grant you a waiver. Once you get the waiver, you're pretty much just like any other SNA out there. Do a search and you will find tons of info.
