What exactly do they make you do for the MEPs physical test? I can't seem to find this information anywhere. Do they also do a test where they probe you in the rear?

And while I'm at it, isn't there a flight physical at OCS? If so, what exactly do they examin on you?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

when i went to meps they did dental, eyes, heart, measurements of body, color blind test, depth perception test, and blood and urine work. they dont probe you unless you are 25 at least thats what the flight surgeon said. but they do check for testicular cancer. have a good time

At Meps the do a very general exam on you. A lot of blood work. They check for ortho. problems, eye problems farkle was correct on that. When I went through meps they no longer did ekg but they do a blood pressure test, and Hemeroids.
For the flight phys. they look a lot deeper into every thing. They take a ton more blood, They do chest xrays, Ekg, Blood pressure, a full Eye exam including dialating the eyes. Full dental check with xrays, they make you read a story that checks brain functioning or something. I wasn't probed but they do look in your ears. I can't remember any thing else but if I have forgotten add as you like.

How do they check you for hemoroids, and how do they check your for testicular cancer? What exactly is an EKG, and how do they test for that? And finally, are there any other medical tests besides the MEPs and Flight Physical? Thanks for the help!

Ok Lets see if this helps,
Hemoroids (sp?)- Bend over and spread your cheeks
Testicular Cancer- They do a physical evaluation by touch looking for any abnormalities
EKG - Electro Cardio Gram - They hook you up with a ton of wires and then measure the electric current given off by your heart.
As for other tests hm? I don't know. I do know that you you have to go back at some interval and have the flight phys done. Yearly I think. If you have had medical problems in the past that you have listed on your paper work then they could hold you over and make you see a specialist. That is all that I know.

just out of curiosity, are hemorroids something that could ground you? It seems like a lot of people have those. I always thought they werent anything that serious. Unless you had like a really bad case or something.

I agree with tvan...MEPS = a 1 hour physical with a 6 hour wait. Also, they do probe you...at least in Indy. All officer's/OC's physicals include a prostate screening...just pray that your doc doesn't have big hands

I remember sitting in a classroom filling out forms and feeling the need to take a piss. I asked the administrator if I could be excused to the bathroom, but she told me I needed to wait for the urinalysis. I barely made it. But actually, my day at MEPS wasn't too bad. I was there for only about 3 hours

Flight Physicals aren't performed at MEPS, you'll have to go to a military clinic or hospital, and they take 7 viles of blood from you at your flight physical and at meps they just take 1 or 2 at least when I went there. Theres nothing to be nervous there just follow the lines and surprisingly everyone will be fairly polite. The flight physical is the real pain, they sent me out in Key West after they had dialated my eyes....and it was a plenty sunny day

Yeah, dilating your eyes sucks. What do they check with dilation at your flight physical? Is it your 'true' vision...like you have to read 20/40 while dilated? I had it done at my last eye exam. It was very sunny and then I had to drive home...I had on shades and was squinting and I thought I was going to die.

how the hell do they dilate your eyes?
I always wondered about that. Is there a drug, some eye drops? I used to think they just sat you in a really dark room for a while.

Yeah, if you look at the vision requirements somewhere for NAs...you'll see that you have to pass with some .1% solution of something...which is what they use to dilate your pupils. It's like for driving, when dilated you must read no worse than 20/40. It lasts for a while, too. I wore my sunglasses inside for like 3 hours...that's after a 90 minute nap to try and get it to wear off. Maybe I'm just weird, though...come to think of it, I'm sure that's it =)

When I went to MEPS to get my physical, it seemed very rigorous. WATCH OUT FOR THE DUCK WALK!!! There were a couple that just couldn't do it when we were there.
I got the works (EKG, probed, blood test, etc.) I wonder why they do it differently in different locations? I even had to do that "read a paragraph thing" and answer the doc questions about what he just asked me. Looks like they gave me nearly a flight physical. I passed.
