Thread to track any end user issues with the upgrade to vb 4.0.

So far I have fixed the following:
    - Smilies now point to the correct image
    - Header logo updated (temp fix)

    Ongoing:
    - Chat disabled (will be down until they update the mod)
    - Front page (will be down until they update the mod, expect mid Jan10)
    - CMS Suite (turned off until I get mod permissions set up)

** Known issue, the forum displays "poorly" with IE6 (such as on NMCI legacy systems). Not much I can do about that.

Please post any errors or glitches you see, so that I can address them and work for a fix.

    John

What is Otto going to do in his free time now?!?

Mid Jan 10?!? You're settling nicely into hinge-dom. For the full transition, you should have said "Early second quarter FY10"... :D

You may have been fiddling this morning, John, but when I first came on here today, when I would hit the "First unread post" link on a thread, it would load all the text w/in the thread and people's avatars, but it wouldn't be formatted, just all left-justified. This is in FF 3.whatever is newest. I then tried in IE 8 and it loaded okay. Went back to FF and it's been working since (this is my second visit to the new look). This is all on the PC, BTW.

Anywho, just putting it out there as a data point.

Happy Christmas and all that, too!

I noticed this problem while reading the posts today. It took me some time to figure out the pattern, but I realized it's the addition of the "infraction" button that causes the "report post" button to not align correctly. I assume it's a problem with the CSS.

Yeah, I posted this in 'tother thread about the upgrade, but in Firefox I can't get any of the Blog articles to open. The links all just re-direct back to the Blog homepage.

I looked at the page source and found the problem. It's the extra space in the middle bolded snippet. I don't think it's CSS now, I think it's the way the PHP is spitting out the HTML.

Can you attach that? Photobucket is blocked here. What brower(s) are you using?

Yeah, I just pulled up FF here on this machine and I get the same result. I bet it's one of those IE vs FF interpretation/execution sort of things. I bet if that space was taken out of the parser output, it would fix the problem though.

Not really a glitch per se, but "Welcome to the Airwarriors?" Is that the vBulletin Engrish mod? ;)

Search function seems to have regressed to only very recent threads. Played around with exact thread titles and it's showing Nada on posts/threads even from last week.

This may be on my end but I've tried on two computers. When trying to attach a pre-set avatar to my profile, none of the avatars will display for preview. I'm not that computer savvy so let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Load it to a free hosting service like Imageshack or Photobucket and then take the link they generate for you and paste it in the window at bottom of the avatar selection page accessed via your profile edit feature. Clear as mud?

That's probably related to John reloading the dB, but not reindexing it.

    https://members.vbulletin.com/docs/html/search_type

If you start with an empty dB, like when you start a website, the table(s) are built as you use it, but when reload a large dB, you have to manually initiate an indexing.

Just emptied index completely. It is rebuilding now, will probably take an hour or so. I expect the server to be a little slower during this time frame.

What browswer are you using. Known problems with IE6. Firefox and IE8 work fine and are showing the dates/time stamps.

Anybody still using IE6 should be banned. Simple as that. John, have you ran any analytics lately to see what percentage of folks visiting the site are still using IE6?

My guess is a HUGE percentage, since that's what NMCI is still running.

Works good with Safari and Chrome for Mac too, FWIW.
