I think you just answered your own question. Plus, when you are on your mid cruises you wont be treated like an E-1, youll be treated like a future officer. And your prior experience will be respected. And shoot man, right now, youre in college, life is good.....:D

If people are telling you this then you are projecting some sense of entitlement. In my opinion it is this type of attitude that prevents some priors from assimilating into the wardoom. You're not an LDO, and were not selected for your prior experiences. The fact that you have them is great but don't wear them on your sleeve.

If your worried about being treated poorly then the TRACOMs an FRS are really going to piss you off.

Let it go........ you choose not to become a chief. I know the type of JO that you're on your way to becoming and he's typically a tool.

When I start getting annoyed about wearing a Chief Halloween costume and not having a rank, I laugh a little bit, and then think to myself that I work 19 hours a week. Then it makes it all ok. It does get a little annoying, but the work output is worth the annoyance.

I must say in the guy’s defense that I kind of do know how he feels. The unit that I am apart of seems to kind of be the same way. I care less about the rank and getting called whatever the hell they want to call me but it’s the transition that’s a killer. It’s really hard not to crush some of these tools at 0530 when they are acting like doing pushups is going to change the world and release communist Russia into our homes! I want to go up to some of them and slap them in the face and tell them that they need to stop acting like idiots and focus on what’s important in life and for the Navy. Maybe this OC guy is getting the same feeling a little, maybe he sees those MIDN growing up and becoming tools like himself… who knows ;)

Let it all roll off your back. Those senior to you who are feeding you this "A PFC outranks you" BS are just trying to push your buttons and see how you react. Let it go.

Now, if that PFC comes up to you and tries to test this theory for himself---well, I'm pretty sure you know how to handle that one :)

All those cheeseburgers backed up...once they choked off the stomach, the gallbladder was sure to go...if only Hawaii had banned McDonalds this could have been avoided...it's all Pres. Bush's fault (which means John McCain helped!!)

This man has answered the question without a doubt. Read and maybe re-read his post. A great deal of very good information here. Ah… what do I know? I was only an AO-3.

Where does the blame stop? He was able to afford all those cheeseburgers by selling ice on the streets of Oahu. Should've called this guy and he'd still be here...

I once had a fat friend like that. I would just drive around the block over and over again passing Macdonald's asking if he wanted fries with that. After a few years of torment hes now anorexic. Over achieving SOB.

    OCs and respect:

I had very little respect for the OCs in my NROTC unit for the following reasons:

    1. For all that prior experience they had built up, they never seemed to use it to mentor or help the MIDN learn anything about leadership.

    2. They were not the sharpest in uniform when it came to inspections or drill days, the MIDN were.

    3. They did not lead by example.

    4. They acted like they deserved respect, but never did anything to earn it, unless being UA is how you earn it.

If you want respect in your NROTC unit and want to stand out from the MIDN then pass on what you have learned in the fleet to the MIDN, and set them up for ultimate success. If you do that, they will realize it and respect you for it. Lead by example and it will be extremely obvious that you are in a much higher status than an E-1. By default a certain amount of respect comes with the title OC, O-1, O-2, etc; but you , especially with your enlisted experience, should know that true respect can only be earned by your ability to lead and inspire your peers as well as your suboordinates.

So you want respect for being an OC, but you give none to the commissioned officers on this board? Just wondering, do carry on....
