When 4-5 of you rent an entire 'club' in Olongapo for the event and the entire Ready-Room shows up ... and when the 'Joe'-in-charge goes flyin' across the stage spread-eagled and hits the light-dimmer switch at the moment of 'truth' ... and at the same moment, the band starts 'BOOMIN' ... and the girls start wigglin', squeezin', & dancin' ... you KNOW it's gonna' be a historic WESTPAC wetting down .... throw in some iced San Miguel, and you've got something.

Historic??? Yes, it was ... the EAST INN CLUB, Olongapo City, Philippines, sir ...

It may not look like much on the outside ... but on the inside ??? OH, Momma !!!

...........

So that is what the East End Club looks like, I never saw it - in the daylight:):):)

Thanks for all the help.

I know it's supposed to be a ridiculous party (we've already bought about $2 G's worth of alcohol) and we thoroughly intend to drink our faces off.

I've just heard there were some other traditions that went along with it...wanted to try and incorporate them to change it up a little. By the way it's a wet/wetting down for newly commissioned Ensigns/2ND LT's, not just your typical promotion party.

East 'End' Club ... that's what I called it (as did most guys), when in fact it was the East 'Inn' Club (and a little south as you made the right turn at the 'T') ... and as you say, daylight ... daylight ... crazy place and ironic, too ... as the 'city' has @ 30 private (mostly church) schools ... but then again, the mayor usually has a nickname of 'Bong' or something similar .. I guess it all evens out.

Yeah ... you needed to 'plan' your time mo' bettah' if you wanted to see or wanted to avoid (depending) the 'pleasure' of seeing Olongapo during daylight hours ... very scary. Amazing what you can get yourself into ... over and over and over. Martial law closed the streets from 0001 to @ 0630, so 'timing' was everything ... :)

You did NOT want to be the 'guy' who showed up @ the brow at 0700, unshaven, in rumpled civies, cotton-mouthed, and hung-over ... requesting: 'permission to come aboard, Sir' ...
:)

The morale of the story??

"When that evenin' sun goes down ..
Yeah, you'll find me hangin' around ..
Because the night life, it ain't no good life ..
But it's my life
..."
(with apologies to Ray Price, B.B. King, Willie Nelson ... and a host of others :icon_wink)

Yup and when the bars turned everybody out all at once the streets were a zoo. Everybody was trying to get somewhere before you turned into a pumpkin. If you didn't have an LBFM leading you by the hand towards her house by that time you'd have plenty of offers soon enough. It took a whole lot of will power to fight your way back across Shit River for duty. What an amazing time.
