Turns out you could also just do your fucking job and be satisfied with the knowledge you did your fucking job. All this chest-lettuce crap is another layer of bureaucracy that takes time/money/effort away from executing the mission. Ever chop 200+ FLOC/LOC/NAM/COM 1650's and writeups because everyone gets a participation ribbon at the end of a deployment? 2 months into a 7 month deployment?! All of which were written by ABE's and ABH's? FML

This award process is broken and has turned into an end of season soccer awards ceremony for 8 year-olds driven by a broken Eval process that doesn't allow us to actually promote the most valuable Sailors because "God forbid they pass someone ahead of them."

You guys get that most UAV dudes aren't asking for this shit, right? A lot of this is garbage participation trophies pushed on them by higher as an attempt to placate their morale shitshow.

If you want to make UAV guys give a shit, treat them like professionals, pay them like professionals, and have a professional career path for them.

In one fell swoop you've successfully hit all the stereotypes of boomers, gen x, and millenials. I feel like this should be the new opening line to a 'dealing with multiple generations in the workplace' video.

Edit: Never mind, post influenced by beer.:)

All I was trying to say was that I served with people like this. Shit sometimes Ron (Ron, third from left, group photo) and I would talk two or three times a day on the phone, Hugh (shoot-down photo) and I at least once a day. Talk about Shipmates! These are guys that were actually there. The "Chair Force?"

Does the Navy actually use green ink? All the ops clerks in the USMC always used red for combat time. I guess servmart failed again.

I think UAV/UAS drivers totally rate high level awards for high-impact missions. But, why can't we use NAs, NCs, DSMs, and Legions of Merit for them? The Bronze Star without V should be done away with anyway. Some awards mean that your ass was on the line, simple as that.

As far as flight suits. I think they've gotten out of hand. They're meant to be used where flame retardant properties are necessary. People in aircraft wear flight suits. Mechanics should wear coveralls. Grunts should wear FROGs. Everyone else should wear cammies.

I've always had red as night time in my logbooks (and weirdo blue for various flavors of boat landings). If I recall, doesn't SHARP show night time as red, also? It would be interesting to know if MSHARP does the same.

Msharp highlights cells red for combat time but that's it

yeah my logbooks show green for combat, red for night, all printed from SHARP. Must be a difference between us and the USMC.

It is; my dad (ex-USMC helo bubba) said the same thing when he looked through my logbooks.
