"THE WORD" at tbs right now about API

UPDATE: I got my orders today and I'm heading straight down to P-cola barring any unforeseen events lol (month and a half left in the POI). My report date is May 1st.

Yeah there is a decent chance that could change. When I graduated with Alpha last May we were told we would be doing IFS in Quantico, then going down to Pensacola. then we were told we wouldn't be doing IFS at all and learning languages instead. 7 months later we are doing IFS...

Graduating March 31st, orders have not changed.... the pipeline seems to be catching back up..... however we are skipping ahead of Fox and Echo companies, who are now learning languages on mainside Quantico. Many of them aren't pleased with this fact....

On "5 April," A Co will receive more information on their future. The resident 2ndLt S2 shop has interpreted this as "5 Apr 2034."

A Co. will be in the middle of MOUT on 5 April, so likely the LT's will not get "THE WORD" until 11 April at the earliest.

How can I make this thread more awkward?
Current word is that IOC is the most probable outcome. Language training is apparently too expensive to mesh with our current budget crisis. We're only a month into the POI, so take this post with a pound of salt.

Awesome. I report June 7th and having the opportunity to attend IOC would be amazing. Of course, my opinion may change when I get there, but right now it sounds like a plan.

IOC was a breath of fresh air after TBS, on our first day ,our OIC Maj. Gordon informed one and all the mickey mouse and the games were over ,we were treated from day one like platoon commanders headed for the FMF, the next 12 weeks were the best training by far that we experienced at Quantico. I remember thinking one time in the depths of TBS that they couldn't be serious this really couldn't be the Marine Corps, but IOC restored both faith, and motivation. We hit the fleet properly motivated, and educated, ready to lead. I graduated in 12/83,back when IOC was just 3 classrooms, we wore steel pots, and carried .45s,Old Corps.

That was what I thought. Seeing a few of the IOC bubbas getting a swift kick in the nuts tempered the moto, but I am still hoping for a shot.

Yeah, if you get the chance you should go for it.

The big downside is the rest of my TBS class is starting primary and I'm in Afghanistan; but there is not a moment in the past year that I regretted making this decision. Flight school will be there when we all get back, but the opportunity to lead a rifle platoon in Afghanistan was fleeting.

I agree with DC3, IOC is a great place to go after the BOC. It's an ass kicker, but easily the best training I've ever received in my life, and I wouldn't trade it.

I haven't heard of them offering that opportunity to any other TBS classes, which is unfortunate. Hopefully they do it again soon, even if it doesn't include a combat deployment as a platoon commander on the back end.

Nope, I am here at TBS now and the word is that we are going straight to API after BOC. I thought it would be an amazing opportunity.

There was an article about you guys in teh Marine Times this week. The first line was:
"they could have been drinking beer on the beach in Pensacola" ---> not kidding

Still no orders, but Charlie Co's XO told us that we are detaching from TBS on Sept 30th, with a report date to Pensacola NLT Oct 30th. Those of us who need it will knock out IFS while we all wait for API to class up (the brief we had tonight said to expect anywhere from a 2.5-4 month wait). Apparently stash jobs will be handed out liberally. I'm hoping to land a seat at AMO school, but not holding my breath.
