I've had my KSO Treks for almost a month now and have really enjoyed them. I haven't done a time comparison yet, though I have a couple of 5ks coming up and I'll see then. This half of the CY I just did the CFT, vice the PFT, so I missed that opportunity to compare.

On the good side, your can definitely go sockless comfortably. The downside is that you either end up cleaning the shoe a lot or using a lot of spray or footpowder to avoid rankness.

If you end up running through puddles or muck, you are definitely going to get them soaked through and require a wash.

Small rocks are okay. Really big rocks are okay. Medium-sized rocks are hell in these things. I did a dry river bed trail the other night and was in hell.

I recently ordered a set of cross-country racers to supplement the KSOs on longer runs and on the aforementioned rock trails.

I wore them for my PT test. Everyone stared, but who cares? Nobody said anything to me in regards to wearing it for the test.

PT, by all means, though I've heard already that some Sergeants Major are already trying to give hard times to some Marines wearing them. Marine Corps tradition--if you don't like something, invent a rule to cover it, a la "you have to tuck in your PT shirt."

"Really? Where's the reference on that one?"

As far as the 5Fs, the only opening they might have is that most people go sockless in them. I have to check the regs on that. Regardless, I'm probably going to wear mine for my next PFT.

As far as OCS. You're a braver man than I if you wear 5Fs there. OCS is all about being faceless and blending in, except in activities where you can stand out in a good way. I wouldn't give them an opening by wearing funny shoes, unless you run a sub-16:00 3 mile or something.

Just scanned through the regs, BTW. No mention of socks as a required part of the PT uniform. Cleared hot
. And my shirt will be untucked.

And no glow belt, because every time I don a glow belt, a Marine who died at Iwo Jima rolls over in his grave.

I catch flak for not wearing boot-bands during CFT. The uniform mafia can eat ......

Wa Wa Wee Wa! No tucking in of the shirt or wearing of socks in PT gear? I had to look it up myself to believe it! That's awesome, I hate tucking in the PT shirt. Ref: paragraph 2006 Click.

Just got a pair of the VFF KSOs. By far the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever had. As someone who runs on the front part of my foot anyhow, these are right up my alley. Best part, had a groupon so they were only $44. ^_^ If I had known they would fit so great I would've got two of the coupons...

Has anyone bought a pair of the KomodoSports? I'm curious how they compare to the other models.

I always kind of chuckled at the idea of making specialized bare foot shoes; isn't that kind of going back to making niche shoes and how we got to "normal" modern running shoes?

1hr, 48min is too long?? Man, you're impatient. :p

Dude, I'm laying in bed right now reading this topic with my wife (we both bought the bikilas) and we are both laughing histerically.
