The Perennial Question: Corpus or Whiting?

Dang, Pickle, that's kinda harsh. Where is the sudden aggression coming from? What did you do, get a bad night's sleep last night on your epic PCS move?

Used to be at least for primary you get Jets. I know one guy who got Huey's and a 47 NSS out of there. Haha

Hasn't been true in years, since they retired the Tweet (T-37). That said, when I went through, the API guys were using the Tweet as a draw to try and get students to volunteer for Vance, saying, "If you fly a jet in primary, they'll be more likely to pick you for jet advanced!" Needless to say, not many students bought that line of BS. They also used the "USAF primary leads to higher NSS!" BS line, also to little effect.

Yep. I flew the Tweet. Had no issues passed every flight ended up coming out of there with a 47 NSS and helo's for advanced. Was disappointed at the time, but it all worked out in the end and I don't think I'd change anything going back. Still would have liked to take a cat shot at least once in my life though.

To echo what Invictus2011 said, the weather in Corpus this last year has been far from friendly. I got here May 17th of last year, and did not have my contact solo until March. I also had the pleasure of 3 PA checkrides before I could finally complete my PA solo, courtesy of the days of never-ending fog and overcast skies. A full calendar year after arriving, I was just starting instruments.

However, weather aside its not all bad. Living on the island is as fun as you make it. One of my roommates had a boat (or rather a piece of metal with what he swore was an engine), and we would take it out on the canals almost every day while we were waiting in the Pool. The dining-out options on the island aren't bad, but they are limited. There's only so many times one can go to the same sushi, ceviche, pizza, or seafood place. Living closer towards downtown brings more restaurants.

Now to the most important aspect: the nightlife. I do find myself missing downtown Pcola. I was a huge fan of the Tin Cow, Old Hickory, and 1/2 price beer nights on Wednesday at WoB. Although I can't offer any opinions on Milton, you'd be hard pressed to find a finer establishment than the Pelican Lounge.

I'll echo what both new guys said. Weather in East Texas is vastly different from weather in Southern Alabama from December to March.

Corpus has awesome windsurfing, kiteboarding and sailing, all year round. So there's that...
