you had a 4.0 GPA, the few I have seen picked for a tech designator that had non tech degrees had similar GPA's, you were a once in a blue moon chance, and that blue moon had to occur on a Tuesday in a month that started with a "J" :D

Agreed. The 4.0 and resume list of extracurricular activities essentially made the boards look the other way with the Non-STEM degree.

For what it’s worth, I was accepted for IP and did not take physics or calculus. The highest math I took in college was precalculus trig. But that’s probably not the norm. It’s not impossible to accepted for IP sans physics or calculus, but it is probably very unusual. I majored in English and did not even apply for IP, because I believed my chances were nil.

Jeez, your bio has got thinking I'm screwed on the leadership positions. I did minor in Spanish too. Did they do anything to confirm/evaluate your Spanish skills?

Also, I take it they sometimes recommend people for what they didn't apply for if they think they'd be better fit for it. Like IP in your case?

No, no one ever confirmed my fluency in Spanish. I actually didn’t even mention my language proficiency in my kit, so if they deduced I was fluent in Spanish, it was from my transcript alone. (And we all know that’s not a good indication of language proficiency). I think many people have said the board actually doesn’t care if you speak multiple languages, because no intel O of any designation will need any language other than English. Only CTIs need to know other languages.

But yes, sometimes the board will stick you somewhere you didn’t apply if they just want to pick you up but maybe didn’t have a spot left in the designator(s) you did apply for. Not like you’ll apply for intel and get NFO or anything, but all the intel designators and OCÉANO convene at the same board, so sometimes people who apply for intel designator #1 and #2 might get selected for #3. Someone theorized I got IP (even though I didn’t apply for it or list it as an option) because all intel / IW spots may have been taken but they wanted to go ahead and pick me up. RUFIO said he’s seen people apply for IP and get picked up for Intel, etc. Seems like all the intel designators are fair game if they really want to pick you up.

This is quite unfortunate. I know a handful of languages and am attempting to think of how I can make up for my lack of leadership positions, comparatively speaking; I just don't see it.

AndI get that, honestly I don't even care for me. Intel, IP, CW. I'm fine with any.

Ah, man. Well, if you don’t get picked up for this board, you’ll have plenty of time to get out there and get involved in something. Honestly, if it’s any consolation, I’m not even sure how much weight my leadership experience gave my kit anyway. They do say around here they give the most consideration to OAR score, GPA, and major. But then again I’m a humanities major with a 51 OAR. The NRC is a mystery to me.

Foreign language skill are not relevant for officers, unless you are a foreign area officer, otherwise enlisted will do all the translating.
