Chief selection season was very painful this year. Not sure how so many Sailors don’t have awards their records. I guess they’re just working too hard to notice...

Have you ever tried to correct your record w/ NDAWS? I have. Five times. To this day, I am still missing a NAM that's in my OMPF.

Would anybody send me a complete OCS package together with enclosure please. I have searched this website and seem to not find a complete OCS package sample. I am currently active duty and my NCs and ESO really seem to not know how the full OCS process works. I am finalizing my package and I just want to make sure I did not miss anything or maybe there is something that I can add. Please direct message me if possible. Thanks!

Here is my stupid question:

For Prior Enlisted Personnel, there is specific information I am having difficulty finding...

Does anyone have their LES from the time they arrived? If so could you go through the 1-3 months of LES and see...

How much was taken out and on which paycheck did they take the uniform items they issue out?

Also, my bigger question is BAH, did they continue with no interruption the BAH from where you are living or did you lose BAH for a month or two and then they back paid you later on?

I continued to get married BAH without interruption throughout OCS at the same rate I was prior to showing up. I believe my uniform bill was 2700 or so at the end. It’s been a few years I don’t have the LESs handy to print off anymore.

The OCS instruction is fairly simple. Also, the NPC website provides detailed information. If you have any specific questions reach out to the OCS questions email on the NPC site.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed to know. According to the contacts at N130C

I was told that it SHOULD be the rate of your prior Duty Station. Just didn't know if OCS was treated differently.

I am married and going to OCS sometime this fall as a SWO. I'm hoping to select a ship in San Diego, but obviously have no idea what will be available. My question is, how is housing selected? I hear that SWOs go directly to our ship upon graduation. Will my spouse have to pack and move everything themselves? We were planning on moving ourselves and keeping the moving allowance instead of using it for movers. Will there be down time (such as OHARP) for me to go home and help get everything in order for the move? And if so, how much?

None of the SWO's in my class got OHARP but they didn't have to report to their ship immediately after graduation either. You'll have some time to get your stuff together to move. SWO's get their ship assignment about halfway through OCS (roughly) so you should use that time you while you're in OCS to plan your move.

That’s good info that I didn’t know. Thank you! And thank you, 123spacego for asking the question!

Yeah. We were talking about it again and we decided that he will have to pack everything up while I'm at OCS. Then when I get back, we load up and head out in a few days or weeks (whatever we get).

No problem ?

I’m having trouble finding an answer to this question on the site but I’m sure it’s here somewhere: how much money should I have in my bank acct. to bring to OCS? I know uni’s cost about 3500 and I’m sure there are other misc expenses. What’s a good number to be comfortable?

It doesn't really matter. You make enough money at OCS to cover everything, and you don't pay off your uniforms until the very end. So unless you're paying some crazy amount of rent on an apartment back home or something like that, you'll leave OCS with more money than you arrived with.

You make E5 pay while you are there. In case you wanted some numbers to work with for planning. I know I'm a huge planner so I would want to know.
