Military FL residents get a sales tax exemption when registering a car in FL. The only catch is that it only applies when you're stationed out of state and promise not to drive the car in FL for at least 6 months.

Ah gotcha. Yeah that's a pretty tough loophole for me to jump through with living in Florida, and soon ending up being stationed in Pcola, etc. I did some outside research after you posted to see what I could find and all I saw was a waived registration fee. But didn't find details. Thanks for the heads up though!

Yeah, establish and keep your Florida residency during your time on AD. Or if you wind up in CC/K-rock, TX residency is good too. The no state income tax thing is yuuuge.

you won't be stationed there your entire career, and will likely buy another car someday.

spring break is a great time, but that whole region slows down like crazy after that. Went to school in Tallahassee haha.

If you're used to tallahassee talent, then yes, you'll be making so many trips to nola/austin/san antonio that you'll need every penny that you get

Unpossible. I was promised a career in the cockpit and a Florida lifestyle. Also, I wash my car regularly, so it will last forever.

I think we're done here.

Uh no, last word...that's the rule here.

I just feel really stupid for not knowing about the sales tax thing earlier. Luckily I found out the for the last one.

My problem is that I keep finding ways back to FL, and those are times when I buy a car (just due to timing). The Navy keeps finding ways to move me back out of FL. Maybe this next time I'll cash in on the sales tax idea.

Throughout that time, I was going to A-pool muster or gentleman's API hours, and crushing the rest of the day drinking on a floatie in our backyard pool or out on the town on the weekends. If that is not how you live as a new 1390 ENS, you are wrong.
Sigh of relief.
