I would say you didn't qualify, technically you qualified but weren't competitive, you see this quite a bit, a person was qualified for a position but not selected because they weren't the most competitive.

The other question is better answered by those that are on the other side of the pipeline, I can talk about getting people selected and into the pipeline.

The thing that has me confused is there were other students with the same GPA and lower PFAR that were selected even as alternates should the main selected midshipman decline or disqualify. Another is the aviation selection was made based only off of paperwork, some of the selections are not medically qualified. My main reason for attending the academy was for the opportunity to go active duty navy and fly. Is there a way of contacting and finding out why I was not selected or was it just a once through thing and that file is already gone?

OC

There isn't much lower to go and there is a reason why they look at PFAR, in general the lower the PFAR the higher the drop out rate in flight school, maybe a few had something else in their record, I know this last round for OCS they selected people with low PFAR's, the lowest I have ever seen so maybe the same applied for ROTC/Academy selections? As far as I know once the selections are made that is it, but there are probably people here that know a bit more about the non OCS selection process.

To be blunt if you only wanted to be a pilot you should have paid for your own college and applied for OCS.

It seems to be what I have learned from my academy experience. I appreciate your help, thank you for your time and consideration.
