The options right now are infinite. Really comes down to "what's cool for you". M400 Tread by Sig and Saint by SA are examples of high quality complete modern rifles that can be found at discount from volume sellers. Or roll your own - acquire a lower receiver locally and build the gun that suits you and have everything you need shipped to your house via UPS. In 2021 buying a complete upper is the way to go married to a home built lower. Technique only. YMMV.
for a complete AR-15 rifles or lowers Colt 6920, LMT, Aero, BCM are all good to go.

I have an M400 Tread, and apart from the name it's a great piece of gear.

Looking to get a red dot or holo sight plus magnifier combo for my 14.5” DD M4. Admittedly the EOTech variety and product naming conventions are a bit confusing. Also tough to get honest opinions if EOTech is worth the price over clone brand optics. Looking for advice, open to suggestions!

EOTECH has amazing products. No doubt. Have you considered Primary Arms? High quality and much more affordable.

The naming conventions are a bit weird until you break them down.

XPS: Sits at absolute co-witness height
EXPS: Sits at 1/3 co-witness height

2-x: Does not have NV brightness settings
3-x: Has NV settings.

Pros: Big window to look through, circle-dot can be very fast for closer targets, 1 MOA dot can be good for longer shots, holographic image might be better for those with astigmatisms.

Cons: Big and heavy (relative to a smaller Aimpont-type optic), shorter battery life if left on (they may have shake-awake now...I can't remember), can have delamination issues on the glass (but optic will still function fine).

You can sign up for the military discount for Primary Arms and it's pretty worthwhile. PA also has a ton of optics under their own brand name.
I'll second the recommendation for Primary Arms. Their full size red dot (MD-25, IIRC) is great. They also have good deals on everything gun related.

One thing that's always put me off with EOTechs is their short battery life and the parasitic drain of the holographic system (A physical limitation of all holographic systems). If you want similar red dot with a large window for use under NVGs, I highly recommend the Sig Romeo 8T: https://www.sigsauer.com/romeo8t-1x38-mm.html
