Redesignation for some SNAs?

FWIW, I went through API in March 2011 and they were talking about doing away with the NSS which means 80 or better = you passed. I think this is still the case. The whole '94 test avg or you're going home' crap hasn't been the case recently and the people who I know that have gone through recently have said that it's still the same as when I went through a year ago.

do you have more gouge on this guy? Did he get his shit all in one sock?
My memory is hazy from many, many beers on the island, but if I recall correctly his story was that he was a pilot (CFI? I forget...) with some hundreds of hours of instrument time that picked up a pilot slot and went to OCS. He wanted nothing but Hornets until the VR program popped up, then he wanted that. Problem was that he flat out refused to study Navy procedures, relying on his civilian knowledge to get through. That worked out about as well as you'd think. After the email debacle, he ended up DORing. Haven't heard from him since.

My memory is a little hazy on the specifics, but I thought I remember it being a Whiting SNA who emailed the head of aviation detailing... so based on what Squorch says, either I mixed up the Whiting/Corpus detail, or there were TWO! (I just wonder which one was the master and which was the apprentice.)

I'm with Jim on my memory. He sends an email to Pers-43 Actual asking for VR orders, not because he wants to avoid the boat, but because he really loves the mission!
The email trail is from Pers-43, to a CDR, to a LCDR at NPC who emails the aspiring C-9/C-40 pilot and tells him to go speak to his student control officer especailly since that LCDR just got off the phone with the same student control officer.

I've asked on this forum before if anyone has that email somewhere and no one did.

Apparently word on the street is the magic number is about 85%---as in the percentage of people they separate if you wash out. But why even think about that? Just kick ass and take names. Time spent worrying about failure is time better used for getting better and getting ahead of the learning curve.

And redes-ing can occur for medical NPQ, DORing, test failures, etc.

Is this true if you fail your CAT 1 physical at OCS as well?

When I was at OCS, if you failed your physical, you would redes there. They wouldn't commission you without a designator. The Academy and NROTC folks get their physical in PCola.

I'd like the Princess Melanie, the dude from Air Force Academy (can't recall the guy) , and the Lead Ensign (tradition) emails again...

Are you talking about the introduction letter the guy wrote for his training squadron? It was floating around my wardroom a week or so ago, but I think I got rid of it.
