Yea, that's the reason I was asking- OSO told us yesterday that there were only 2 ground openings left between the 5 guys that were supposed to go in Jan but got rolled over to May. So he basically told us that whoever had the highest PFT scores was going. All the new guys that started the process since Jan are going to have to wait 'til Oct. I decided to go Air If you're having a hard time with running consistency, get on an elliptical. I pushed myself as hard as I could for 2 months on the elliptical 4 days a week when I had shin splints and I dropped my time from 23:00-20:45. Some plyometric work helped too- anything you can do to develop your cardio. Not sure if you're registered on marineocs.com but there's a ton of good PFT tips on there.
Thanks for the help, I'll definitely give that elliptical a try. For me to make those improvements on those pull-ups means it would take the same effort on running. It definitely can be done! BTW, what do you want to fly in the Marine Corps?
I'm not picky. There's the part of me that wants jets like seemingly everyone else, but helos would be cool too. Where in MD are you from, and which Selection Office you going out of?
Get this, early feb. my packet was sent to the board with my first 300 pft score from dec. 2nd. I get a call from my OSO saying that the board was pushed back so I needed to run a pft the next day...this is also afer I had ran 5-miles and worked out. Still got a 300 but still kind of sucked not having any heads up. Welcome to the Marines right. Class 201 OCS PLC
Tell me about it. But I can take her for a flight out of craig, maybe she'll like that JDFLYER< shit hot scores, glad we're not in the same district. BTW, what do you do for PT (run)?
Monday- 2 Miles for time (try and get under 12) Wednesday- 1 mile running my absolute fastest (want an oxygen mask after :-p) Thursday- PFT And one day a week I do boots and utes run (4 or 5 mile) with a few kids I know that have been to jrs. Just make sure one of your days is more than 3 miles, boots or not. I found the 1 mile sprint to be pretty beneficial but I noticed a huge increase in performance when I got in to the groove of running and it became less of a "chore" Also, listening to cadences helps me keep pace when I get tired.
jdflyer, the picture on your public profile is sick/scary. Its hard to believe aircrew technology has come that far.
