Caught this last night on PBS: the greatest American entertainer of all time: Bob Hope (ironically born in England.) He spent every Christmas from 1967 to 1991 overseas performing for the USO.

Landing in a C-2A aboard USS Ranger in 1967

And from the movie The Big Broadcast of 1938, the song Thanks for the Memory which became his theme song - and which all of us of a certain age will never forget. Here's to Bob Hope.

Just watched the 6 part NETFLIX series on the global food chain entitled "Rotten". Made in part with the same people who produce Anthony Bourdain, thought it was quite good. Each episode dealt with a different industry: honey, peanuts, garlic, poultry, dairy, fish.

Speaking of poultry, I had to include the clip from "Night Court", one of the best comedies of the '80's. Yes, that is Commander Data before Star Trek TNG.

"How to Command a Nuclear Submarine". Not Netflix, Amazon. Officer training on a RN Trafalgar class boat. Probably not that true (at least L hope so, with how spooky bubble heads should be), still pretty good.

If you like that, there are two multi part series on Perisher from English TV. There is a BBC version from the 80s on Youtube, and a more contemporary one from ITV ( I think, I can't check from work ) on Netflix. This might be the one you are referring to. The BBC version looks a little dated, but you can tell that the part of the course the two docs focus on seems to have remained pretty similar.

The more recent version has a USN student.

Not only is today Groundhog Day, but it is also the 25th anniversary of "Groundhog Day". One of Bill Murray's best movies.
