Figures this comes about when I wasn't planning on participating in PFA 18-2 anyway.

I like all the speculation as to how badly this will go and leave those who can opt out of a PRT for scoring well previously running the squadron on a PRT day or some such similar nonsense. As if the Air Force hasn't been using this type of policy for years...

The NAVADMIN only says that you need an Excellent Low overall with no single category below a Good Low. Has anyone heard anything more restrictive than that? On my last PRT I got a Good Medium, Good High, Outstanding High which resulted in an Excellent Low overall. One of our CFLs is telling me that I still have to run the next PFA because I got Goods in two categories. Has anyone else heard that you can only get a Good in one category?? Because that's not how the NAVADMIN reads...Unless that's written somewhere else.

Seems like a good question for the CFL making the claim. I’ve heard of no other guidance.

He said that's what they put out in CFL school and that he'd look for a reference and get back to me.
You're right. As long as you got good in each category and excellent overall, you're good. That's what our CFL put out and it seems pretty straightforward in the NAVADMIN. I'd call foul.

What the NAVADMIN actually says:
Sailors who pass the body composition assessment (BCA), are within the Navy age-graduated body fat standards, and score an overall excellent low or better (with no single event lower than good low) on the physical readiness test (PRT) will be exempt from participation in the following PRT cycle.

I imagine what happened is that the guy at CFL class misinterpreted “no single event” to mean “not more than one”.

If your CFL persists with this “that’s what this guy told me,” I’d get in touch with the relevant office at Millington. Your guy is putting out bad gouge for the command.

Me, this morning: "Hmm, did I misread that? Am I exempt? Let me check my score on BOL."

*checks BOL*

BOL banner: "PRIMS will be down until further notice." Because of course it will.

Maybe this means they're finally putting the software patch in PRIMS. Until now, there has been no way to implement the "you can skip a PRT" bene from last year's navadmin.

Implementing a software patch correctly doesn’t involve or require bringing a production server down “until further notice.” At least when professionals do it.
