Remember that the selection rate for IWC is often about 10%, so it is poor shot anyway.

Yeesh. Does the Navy attract America's best and brightest or does everyone apply (or both)? Everytime I see numbers like this I wonder why the other services aren't nearly this competitive.

Certainly true. But SWO is by far the largest community and it had a ~30% select rate in the last board. Is that normal?

selection rates go up and down, sometimes there are more people that apply, sometimes there are less spots. The rates many years ago were higher, but that was when people would put down SNA, SNFO, and SWO and get selected for all, that is also when if you were selected for your 1st choice your application still went to the board for the remaining designators, so they would over-select knowing that many would pick another designator.

Someone posted this once about how long some applicants took to get to OCS.

Reviewing this spreadsheet is a little concerning. I didn’t see anyone that received their FINSEL any later than a month out from thei class date. I’m a Fleet selectee and has a family that will move back home while at OCS and BDOC. Mr. Celestin from NRC told me he submitted a detach date for September. Should I just stick with this date while doing my family planning (i.e. put in my notice to move out of housing)?
