there is. And I have it.. just still waiting patiently for my invite. So I have the app, but no function at the moment.
High Res photos... Here's a link to a pic (as not to bog down the thread) taken from the good ole Droid today. http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/1231/soaring.jpg
Yeah, it constantly updates them. I even set it up so it only updates those that are already in my contact list. No more spending 4 hours deleting useless entries. Which flashcard app are you using?
hit the settings menu bar in contacts and select only contacts with phones. also in the menu options are a couple of accounts options. go in there and there are some options you have to turn on (auto sync is one of them, it will sync every time you log into fb, rather than having it run all the damn time)
when you're on the home screen, click settings, then there should be a pop up (same one that you use to add widgets) and there is an option to "add folder", select that, then there should be a prompt with different folder options, one of them is "contacts with numbers" This worked for me, so even when I'm logged out they're there.
Hmmm, it works that way for me straight out of the box. FB app isn't running and I have all of my contacts.
I have it set to auto log in, and I use Advanced Task Killer to quit the apps I don't want running rather than sign out of each one. Maybe that's what is happening.
Weird... hopefully mine isn't a fluke, or yours is. I'm sure as the Droid becomes more popular they will start fixing a lot of this stuff.
Anyone have luck getting the 2-year contract price without being up for a new contract? In the past I've never gotten them to budge on retail prices unless I'm actually eligible for a new two years.
Call the Verizon customer service line. I had a year left on my service agreement and called fully expecting to cancel my contract and switch to AT&T for the iphone. It took maybe two minutes after mentioning the dreaded words to have my contract reset so I could get a droid.
If these last 15 posts aren't good advertising for getting an iPhone, then I don't know what is. Oh, the irony. Brett
Because some of us possess a lifelong geek-curse and are doomed/destined to lead a life of constant technological tinkering/pain.
Pulled the Trigger on the HTC Droid ERIS a few days ago - This thing is pretty freakin sweet. It will do anything that the Motorola Droid does for a way cheaper price - FREE. The bugs have been cleaned out with an update and it is confirmed that it will be getting an over-the-air upgrade to Android 2.0 in the coming weeks which means it will be on-par or IMO, far superior to the Moto for many reasons. The Sense UI is way slicker and more user friendly than the Moto as it has 7 home screens, multi-touch (pinch zoom) and HTC specific widgets not offered on the Moto. The predictive text of the keyboard is second to none when trying to haul ass while sending a text (I have fat fingers). It does not come with any of the BS Verizon programs pre-installed...yada yada and the list goes on. The bottom line is compact freedom and lots of it. HTC has got their shit together. It is small but not too small. It gets in and out of the shoulder pocket of my flight suit very easily - as opposed to the Moto Droid (I know the iPhone fits too so chill out iPhone Nazis). If you are still wanting to hold out for the iPhone-killing HTC Passion/Bravo then that's your choice but I say that the ERIS will eventually be looked at as the cheap version of the those and still remain a heavy hitter. I highly recommend it; r2 is right-on:
The Droid ERIS is a rebranded HTC Hero, a phone that was all the android geek rage a couple of months ago. It's a repositioned flagship phone, and very nice. A steal. I still like the 'Jay Leno' euro version more though...
I have seen the future, and it's full of plain white walls... http://www.ted.com/talks/pranav_mistry_the_thrilling_potential_of_sixthsense_technology.html I got a raging geek-on after seeing this the first time. I imagine some combination of iPhone/Droid and SixthSense technology will be as standard as Bluetooth headsets a few years from now.
Got the Droid Eris for Christmas. I freely admit being a Luddite given my last phone could only call and text, so I'm still getting used to it. I have a feeling it could become like crack for me though.
About the biggest differences I can see with the Eris and Droid is lower screen resolution and no physical keyboard (which it turns out I don't use all that often on my Droid). On either one I'd recommend having a look at those clear plastic screen protectors. The touchscreen works just fine either way, just make sure you REALLY clean the screen first. I found a nice scratch on mine (the protector) about a week ago. Meh, I guess I'll replace it (found some that fit iPods and used scissors to trim to fit my phone... package of 5 for $5 beats the custom fit $20 job). iPhone fans, agree/disagree?
I agree on screen protectors. Although I get custom fit screen protectors from Best Skins Ever. Cheaper and pretty much the same quality in my opinion. It actually makes it a little easier for me to use the touch features.
