How to mitigate Foreign influence security concerns for TS Clearance (Naval Aviator)

Hi, I'm an American citizen by birth & so is my little brother. My older brother & parents are Pakistani/Canadian citizens. We have agreed that when I turn 21, I would sponsor them as US residents & they'd apply for US citizenship after 5 yrs (currently living in Canada for the past 15 years). They would forfeit their Pakistani passports & live in the US. None of my immediate family have any ties to any governments, foreign military, etc. I think that my very very distant family may be in the Pakistani military, but my dad isn't certain. He said that we don't have any connection with them at all and never did. My parents haven't been to Pakistan in over a decade my siblings went there when we were 1 or 2 years old once.

As for my family on my mom and dad's side in Pakistan, my connection to them is very very seldom. My father and brothers also have very seldom contact with them. My mother just speaks to her mother and siblings semi-regularly. Also, my mother has sent her family some money in the past as a gift. I was looking through cases about foreign influence 'http://ogc.osd.mil/doha/industrial/2018.html' and when applicants manage to mitigate the foreign influence, they have a better chance to have their clearance granted. I do expect a very long clearance and an uphill journey with the prospective investigation. What can I do to help mitigate this issue? Living in Canada and transferring to an American University for ROTC next year, I have seldom ongoing contact with people other than my immediate family. I just don't want to make it even harder to earn a clearance by adding more & more people to the foreign contact list. I just focus on finishing my Mechanical Engineering degree with distinction & honors. I have closed my Canadian student bank account, renounced my naturalized Canadian citizenship, & never voted in any Canadian election.

Thank you for reading.

Vote for Trump in 2020. That will leave no doubt that you put America first. Good luck.

I'd say the term "mitigate" is probably not useful. Just be honest. The specificity of a TS clearance is a little suspect here......that isn't a baseline requirement to be a naval aviator, and that's all I will say. Same for the clearance process. But the only control you have over the process is to be upfront and honest to the best of your ability.

Good you are thinking this through, but as MIDNJAC said, shouldn't be a problem for you. The process is a bit more nuanced than you might think. I have put guys in the Navy that had fathers who were in the Chinese People's Army, had an uncle who escaped North Korea, and family living in Vietnam.
