Do you know the specifics of the Mx issues? I used to work as an airline mechanic, so I feel their pain.

I was the same timeframe, too. Las Cruces helped a lot though but even if you didn't go, you were at most 8 months. If that's the case, you could find several hobbies.

This and just be careful, don't hurt yourself....better off to get wings first. I started doing Judo again at the FRS and cracked two ribs, down for a while, then hurt my back, down for a while. Just saying :)

Was an IP in the A7 RAG at Lemoore in '67/'68 ...training the first squadron to take the Corsair II to 'Nam. They (VA-147) lost a JG to "white water" kayaking in the Sierras.

Greaaaaat advice, LAF. Up and coming Safety O here. :D

Hope all's well, buddy.

Hey, I just learned from the best. Feel free to tell the dude what being med down from some a freak injury will do.

And you too buddy. Looks like you're having a blast on the beach from Facebook.

Contract issues with suppliers and maintenance. Specifically, but not limited to, tires.

Its a lot more than just that. Poor QA with aircraft delivered from the factory of a bankrupt company to a disaster of a maintenance and parts contract. When they went around sequestering hours they didn't need to take any from the primary VTs since the T-6 mx problems were reducing hours so much.

It's good to see things change for the better since 2008...said no one.

The first hobby you should take up is brewing your own beer, it's easy, portable and takes very little time. Plus the money you'll save over the course of flight school will pay for your dirt bikes, surfboards or whatever other hobby you decide to take up.

Your mileage may differ, but I've had a ton of downtime. Back in December when I actually started the Contact phase, I was studying every day. Then in January when I started flying, I had no time for anything but the T-6 and Ms. NATOPS. But now that I'm almost out of Contacts, it's like I'm stealing a paycheck because I have so much time off. I have decided to start up a hobby of my own, just in case RI turns into a similar situation.

Man that is insane. I classed up for primary in mid July 2008, and was done the first week of January 2009. So basically just under 6 months, and that was with 2 hurricanes and a lot of wx and mx cancels along the way.
