I did that. They still refused to recognize me, while other people I was doing the whole process with had no problems. It's just weird.

Guess it depends on the user, but I didn't need my NMCI account till after the rag.

Interesting. Did you do the goggle syllabus in the HTs? I remember KBay mentioning he had to use NMCI at one point, but maybe it was just for SLAP.

In the end, I guess it's moot. CommodoreMid is at NASC and needs the account.

Yeah, that may be the difference there, accessing SLAP. I did the goggle syllabus but all the programs were on common computers basically set up for the nav route flights and the goggle flights. I think they did that so we didn't have to all use NMCI computers.

At the rag I was hardly in the squadron spaces long enough to even need to log in for anything.

Jet VTs, no need for NMCI, there are maybe 3 boxes students can access if they want to. Most don't and it's not a problem. I only use it because I actually use my navy.mil email.

Most students just use TRANET for things they have to use.

Problem was solved today. The stash Ensign in room 204 contacted someone who worked some kind of NMCI magic over the weekend. I have no idea what the original problem was, but whatever.

I never used NMCI until I got to the FRS. I guess it's just differences in the way that things are done in P'cola these days. When I was in flight school they told us we didn't need an account and we shouldn't worry about it until we hit the fleet.

Figured this thread needed some new life, I was recently told that those of us who don't have an active NMCI account needed to go to the stash ensign and get it done. I haven't signed into a Navy computer since I first signed up for my NMCI account back in September... so my account is most definitely locked/shut down or whatever happens to an inactive account. I went to the NMCI room and the ensign never showed up, so I'm wondering should I even bother to try to take the time to get this straigtened out or wait until I absolutely need to? (In wk 3 of API now)

Wait. There's no hurry. I never used it in primary. I only used it in advance because the squadron actually sent us e-mails. Most were worthless of course but from time to time there was something nice that came around. Needless to say there's nothing really needed from an NMCI account in training.

You can call up the weather briefer. Their website never liked me anyhow.

There are several non-required but useful benefits to an NMCI acct while you're in flight training. You can use your .mil address to get an account at the NAVAIR airworthiness website so you can get electronic versions of your NATOPS manuals. You can also access your electronic service record. I saved the best part for last: you can read all the gory details about network unavailability from 0100-0300 at NAS Brunswick this weekend (hypothetically), and all the way back since you last deleted your email. The possibilities are endless!
