FY 18 IWC DCO BOARD

Adding to what @devilbones said I can see how your OR said you’re initially not competitive. You are in fact in the DC area where folks like you are a dime a dozen. In fact, they probably have graduate education which you don’t have, and something that might bite you for this board.

I wonder why he initially said not interested and now says "highly Competitive" ?

Anyhow, maybe I should drop the process until a correct the weight and measurements. 26 is the max body fat and im at 28. I need maybe 60days to correct this. Per the earlier reply, it sounds like they want this corrected before the physical - if that's factual. I was hoping to get the package started and ensure I am within standards by the time im (if) selected.

Another option would be to reenlist. The issue is I do not want to go back to aviation where I have been rated. I've already worked with the intelligence community for over 12 years and a Geospatial Professional.

do you compete against CNRFC or against small subunits e.g. DC Command, Hampton Bay Command, New Jersey Command..?

You are competing both regionally and nationally. When you complete your IWC Region OIC interview, you will be ranked against fellow candidates like yourself. In an area like DC, I can imagine it would be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to stand out in a very competitive pack.

You need you be within BCA in order to get a physical.

Crap!!! BCA cant be corrected in a months time. Guess ill need to wait and start the process after the calendar year 18 boards(s). The soonest this will be resolved is mid-June. Won't help if having a physical in late April or May.

SRUM Master Certification
I think you meant '"SCRUM Master Certification".

Yes, I'm nitpicking, but... if your resume has typos, it's an easy reason to justify a non-selection in an already overcrowded application line.

Don't miss the easy points.

I've recruited for Fortune 200 companies, and government agencies. After a long day of standing on your feet, repeating the same speech to 100 groups of people, I can tell you that some applications never make it to getting scanned into the HR system.

BLUF: How bad do you want it?

Your BCA *can* be corrected in a month's time. It's just gonna be challenging on your part.

Cut all dessert out of your diet
Cut all soft drinks and kool-aid/similar.
Cut out mayo/ketchup/salad dressing. Use flavorful spices instead; oil/vinegar on salads,
Actually read the food package labels for recommended portion sized, and eat *one* portion per meal period.
Moderate cardio with light/medium weight twice a week; Intense cardio once a week. Ideally something like M-W-F.

This will totally be the worst, but not worse than having your package stall because you couldn't make weight.

1lb equals about 3,500 calories... If you need to lose 10 pounds, you need to cut 35,000 calories. This will help you measure how to do it over time.

In addition to what @fieldrat said, also cut out all alcohol.

A long with all of the great advice you have already been given. You could try intermittent fasting. It's pretty effective for losing body fat. A good place to get info and advice: https://www.reddit.com/r/intermittentfasting/

Agree with @RUFiO181 and @Ryan1229. I dropped over 70lbs last year by doing a combination of intermittent fasting, Whole30, running and resistance ( I chose CrossFit). If you are disciplined you can cut pretty damn good in 30 days by that combination. Discipline equals freedom

Just curious if anyone's commissioning documents have come in? I got an E-mail with a Welcome Aboard package and discussing, "If we haven't already commissioned..." I spoke to the recruiter that took over from my previous recruiter, he told me that he has not received any commissioning documents for any of the folks selected. Just curious as its been a few months already.

The delay has been discussed before. Please search “scroll” on here.
