FEB 19 SUPPLY BOARD

I think you definitely have a strong package especially looking at your work experience and letters. I have no doubt with a few weeks of studying you could get your OAR up to a 50 or higher if you don't make it this time around. How do interviews factor into the application? My recruiter did not tell me anything about interviews.

Quick background: My sort of "mentors" on this process are 2 retired Captains whom both previously sat on a recruiting Boards early in their careers, and most importantly, Congressman Ron DeSantis, whom is a Naval Officer himself as well as recently being appointed to the Naval Academy Board of Visitors. Safe to say they lent me some good Intel on this arduous process.

In terms of interviews, they articulated that they really do enhance your package. Ask you recruiter for the form if it's not too late to add. The forms essentially have a rating system and ask questions about your character, work ethic, physical fitness etc. and really require them to explain in detail why they feel you are fit for the Navy. It just adds another reassurance to the Board if they want more detail on your background (LORs are great but sometimes too vague). I did 6 interviews but only used the top 3 my recruiter felt were the best. Obviously, an active duty or retired senior supply officer would be best.

What they saw probably 20 years ago is not relevant to today, every person I had who obtained a LOR from a congressman was a non-select. in nearly all cases the board members know it isn't hard to make a good impression for 30 minutes, that is why an interview from an officer who you have worked for is looked at in a more positive light.

Don’t take this the wrong way... but the board might view you more as “more connected” than “more qualified”.

The non-STEM/business degree and low OAR are gonna hurt.

No offense taken, I agree. Also agree on the Congress LORs, they’re rubber stamped and shouldn’t be considered highly in any applicants package (IMO). Just wanted to showcase the “whole person“ concept.

Side note: spoke with my recruiter about this Board convening on a federal holiday, and she agreed it might not convene until 20 Feb. Not that it changes anything

I am surprised this post does n0t have as many participants. I hope there is enough applications IN so the board can convene. Any minimum requirement application for a board to convene?
There are many applications. Not everyone feels the need to post and some don't even know about the website. I applied to two board last year which were non select. Total for the August board was 136 and November 138 applicants but not even a quarter participated on the thread for their corresponding boards. You will be surprised at the total number when the result comes out.

Interesting fact!

I'm AD and know some people with info. Not pertinent info such as results and stuff of that nature, but simple numbers such as how many going up for a board.

Ok got it. Well good luck if you are on this board. But I am only seeing AMDO on yours and not SUPPO.

Yes I applied for AMDO and SWO. Impatiently waiting for the boards to convene and post results. Just been eying some of these other boards with similar convening dates to gauge how long it's taking for results. AMDO board convenes tomorrow and SWO on 5 MAR.

Ok cool, I will be on March 5 for SWO also. I went to school for Supply Chain Management hence applying for SUPPO. I am currently BM1 USNR, hence SWO interest.
As a Blue Angels LPO I see you have a good chance of making it for AMDO.

Thats what I am hoping for, but open to either. Gaining a commission is the goal, killing it at whatever job I'm doing is next.
