Eye Surgery Medical Records

Hello all,

I have a question that has led me to more trouble than it really should so I was trying to see if I could get your help.

I got LASIK done about 6 months ago and I am about to get my paperwork ready for MEPS. Now, I need to get my medical documents for the eye surgery. The eye clinic I got my surgery at says, they always have the recruiter contact them and send them a form to release my records to the recruiter directly every time they deal with a situation like mine which would make sense. Now, my recruiter cannot figure out why they would not release them to me but would release my records to him. He thinks I should be getting my records myself which makes sense too. I am just trying to figure out what the standard way of doing this is.

How have you gone about getting your medical records? Any insight is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

I have encountered this a few times, yes it is jacked up and I found rather than try and prove a point it was quicker to do what they wanted.

I think I have finally gotten all my paperwork from LASIK in to be reviewed. The LASIK group I got my surgery done with was beyond helpful when it came to getting all of my records. I asked for a hard copy to be mailed to me as well as it all faxed to me... every documentation from my first visit to my last. I then sent it on to my recruiter. Beware: I thought I had everything in a couple weeks ago but whoever issues the N3M letter came back last Friday and requested refractive data that was more current. My last measurement had been done mid-October. Got that squared away today.
