Hey guys,

Thanks for all the helpful hints and ideas! Oh, btw, SRQWHO you're exactly right about having to go to MEPS within 1 month of getting pro-rec'd. So far I've started doing some online internet marketing with a friend of mine that's been doing it for awhile and is making pretty good money. Keep the suggestions coming though, I'd appreciate it!

-Yeah, I think selling blow is WAY out of the question! I don't think that would be a very good thing if I got caught pulling that shit.

-I'm already a waiter, and yeah, the money's okay, but with the recession and being that it's summer time, it's not enough to cover the amount for eye surgery.

-Selling plasma's a great idea, but last time I tried to do that I was turned away because I've had mono 3 times over the last 4 years and it royally screwed up my liver the first time I got it. Needless to say, even though my liver's fine now, I'm not allowed to give blood or donate plasma anymore.

-I'm in school right now, so working on a resort cruiseliner is out of the question too.....and I'm not from Malaysia so it won't work anyways :-P

-So far the Care Credit thing and continuing with my online marketing campaign seems to be the best ideas. But keep 'em coming! Thanks guys!

EBAY or Craig's list. I am kind of a pack rat and recently unloaded some bike stuff I had lying around along with some other unmentionables and made 3000.00 Yeah, it was a nice bike, but you'd be surprised what you have lying around that other people would pay some money for. Thanks for confirming the gouge.

You can always pay for it using a credit card, then use promotional 0% offers to float the balance as you pay for it. You could easily do this for a number of years. But remember, if you miss a payment you're screwed. You also need to remember to not use the credit card for anything else, since any payments will go towards the lower apr balance.

You can whore yourself out to 1000 fat chicks for $50 each... or 50 REALLY fat chicks for $1000 each...

I agree that getting a job is the most rational solution, but he asked for creative ideas, champ :D

True, but I am pretty sure he can make more than 35 bucks twice a week donating his "load-in-a-cup".

A couple decent suggestions (craigslist, float 0%APR CC etc), but I think a job would probably be the smartest solution. If you have income, you could easily get a small loan approved with a decent rate, get the surgery done NOW and pay it off after the fact.

Again, agree with the suggestion. You should be able to work enough during the summer to pay for the surgery.

Yeah goosegagnon2, I did catch that, but still wanted to clarify for all those out there that, well, might not be the brightest crayons in the box...

I agree with bogey_spotter on this one, getting a second job is probably the best idea so far. I work 40+ hours a week as a waiter, but I've been thinking about taking a night job as a hotel clerk checking people in. Pay's not great, but it could be enough to put a down payment on the surgery and let me keep working during the day.

I also like the idea of eBay and Craigslist! I check Craigslist all the time, and I can't believe I didn't think of that myself.

And I'll say it again just for the record and for those that didn't start at the beginning of this thread where I said it before, it may be a helluva lot of fun and pretty good money, but I will not whore myself for money! (Nice try Squeeze :icon_wink:D)

The 0% interest from card to card is playing with fire. It sounds awesome, but risk is a huge factor. Risk of missing a payment or using the card again is dull to talk about, but it happens to normal people every day. Our country is flushing itself down the toilet using credit. Just my two cents. If you're gonna do credit, get something fixed in installments.

And don't forget umpiring. I can't tell you how easy and fun it is after you've learned the rules, or at least learned them better than the coaches know them, which is surprisingly not that hard. $50 a game. Games are about 2 hours, hardly ever more than 2.5. At a good complex that hosts travel ball tourneys, you see kids playing great baseball, and you can do 2 to 4 games a day every day of the week until school starts back (then you go do HS football). THAT is creative AND it is a real job.
